Chapter 21
As soon as she finished speaking, she leapt into the sea.
The night ocean was pitch black and completely unguarded.
Eliza’s figure quickly vanished from Edward’s sight.
“No!” Edward’s face turned pale and he immediately jumped into the sea after her.
The icy water crashed against his body, but it only made his heart feel even colder.
He felt as if he had fallen into an ice cellar, recklessly struggling through the waves, desperate tc find Eliza.
Eliza’s sudden jump into the sea was something no one had anticipated.
Edward’s heart ached painfully. Gasping for breath, he swallowed several mouthfuls of the salty briny sea water.
The bitterness of the sea water made him shed tears uncontrollably.
Eliza couldn’t swim, but she only struggled in the water for a few flaps before falling completely
silent.
In the darkness, Edward had a hard time locating her exact position.
By the time he found her, she had already fainted and was sinking steadily downward.
She had drifted quite far out, just barely about to be swept away by the towering waves.
Edward carried the unconscious, soaking–wet Eliza onto the shore. His face was full of panic as he repeatedly performed CPR on her.
“Eliza, wake up! Please, don’t leave me!”
By the end, his voice was breaking with sobs.
“Do you hate me that much? Even in death, you want to leave me? Eliza, how can you be so cruel to me? I’m begging you, please wake up!”

When Eliza regained consciousness, she was already back in her own room, an IV drip in her
hand.
She had been brought back to the home Edward had meticulously prepared for her.
She moved slightly and found that her body had mostly recovered. Without hesitation, she pulled out the needle and walked to the door.
But outside, two men in black suits stood guard, their expressions blank.
“Apologies, Miss Robert. You’re not allowed to leave.”
She let out a cold laugh. “So, when gentleness doesn’t work, he resorts to force. Planning to imprison me now, is he?”
With a loud bang, Eliza slammed the door shut behind her.
She searched through the room repeatedly but couldn’t find a single sharp object anywhere.

Edward, afraid she would try to harm herself again, had taken away all the sharp items.
No matter how much she caused a fuss inside the room, the bodyguards outside simply ignored it as if they hadn’t heard a thing.
It wasn’t until evening that she finally saw Edward.
His face was pale and showed clear signs of illness, as if he had just recovered from a serious
sickness.
“Eliza.”
Eliza lost control of her emotions.
“Don’t call my name! It just makes me feel sick!”
In these past few days, she had been worried that the Clark Family might get involved because
of her.
She didn’t want to see the person she loved get hurt on her account. That’s why she had tolerated so much and lived peacefully with Edward for these many days.
From what she knew about Jason, three days was enough time for him to handle all the troubles Edward had left behind.
Now, Eliza didn’t want to stay with Edward any longer. Even one more moment felt suffocating. After Edward had rescued Eliza from the sea, he got pneumonia and lay bedridden for a full three days.
Today was the first day he could barely get out of bed and upon hearing that Eliza had woken up he hurried over.
But when he pushed open the door, what he saw was a mess scattered all over the floor.
Eliza stood amid the ruins, constantly questioning him.
He simply couldn’t communicate with her normally.
In helplessness, Edward had no choice but to leave the room, leaving Eliza alone.
