She’d just lied.
But in this game of half–truths and deception, there was no way for anyone to uncover the facts. Given how sensitive, insecure, and suspicious Emma was, she’d definitely end up picking a fight with Micah,
Relationships are fragile; one wrong move and everything capsizes. Let’s see how long those two can keep up their happy façade.
As for the people who betrayed her, she’d deal with them–one by one.
Monday morning, Ivy left home early and headed to the title office to finalize the property transfer.
When she arrived, Jamison was already there.
Today, Mr. Jamison was dressed with casual elegance: crisp white shirt, dark tailored slacks, broad shoulders tapering to a slim waist–the proportions almost unfair.
His gold–rimmed glasses perched on his sharp nose, making his deep, smoldering eyes even more alluring.
At first glance, Ivy thought he looked like he was trying way too hard to get noticed and couldn’t help rolling her eyes.
Jamison was in the middle of a phone call. When he saw Ivy approach, he shot her a cold, piercing glance over his glasses, then just as coolly looked away.
Rolling their eyes at each other seemed to count as a greeting.
“Miss Windsor, I’ve grabbed us a number, but we’ll have to wait a bit. Staff said the system’s been down for upgrades this morning–still not working yet,” the realtor said, bowing and scraping with excessive politeness.
“That’s fine,” Ivy replied. She had nothing urgent going on anyway, so she sat down and started scrolling through her phone.
When Jamison finished his call and learned about the delay, he sat as well–making sure to leave several seats between them.
Neither of them had any interest in making small talk.
Last night, Ivy had posted a new market analysis–a forecast for this morning’s opening.
Her post had sparked a lively discussion in the comments.
With time to kill, she browsed through them at a leisurely pace, replying when she found something worth engaging with.

Meanwhile, the WhatsApp group “Stonks Only Go Up” was buzzing with messages. Ivy finished scrolling the forum before finally checking what everyone was talking about.
Jay: I read Mrs. Smith’s analysis. Thinking I’ll play some quick trades today.
Bob: Same here. Sitting on cash is killing me–going to try my luck with some day trades.
Dale: I think I’ll just watch for now. Too busy lately to keep an eye on the market.
Dr. Handsome: Better wait for the policy signals–don’t rush in.
Ivy scrolled past the messages, a little surprised to see Dr. Handsome online so early in the morning.
She allowed herself the slightest smirk and tapped out a reply: If you only ever follow policy cues, how many real chances do you get to make money in a year?
Dr. Handsome: I’m nowhere near as prophetic as you, Mrs. Smith. Playing it safe is all I can do.
Mrs. Smith: Thanks for the compliment.
Dale: This is weird. Both Dr. Handsome and Mrs. Smith are online first thing in the morning.
Dr. Handsome: Out running errands.
Mrs. Smith: Waiting for my number to be called. Bored.
Bob: Mrs. Smith, are you at the hospital for a checkup?
Ivy figured there was no need to reveal everything online. Besides, buying property wasn’t something she wanted to broadcast, just in case.
So she replied, keeping it vague: Yes.
Jay: Wishing you all the best, Mrs. Smith. Hope everything goes smoothly.
Mrs. Smith: Thank you.
Dr. Handsome: @Mrs. Smith, which hospital do you usually go to?
Ivy was just considering how to respond when her phone screen flashed with an incoming call from Katrina.
“Hey, Katrina…”
“Ivy, Micah just called me. He wants your number. Should I give it to him?” Katrina asked.
Ivy paused, then quickly understood what was happening.
“Go ahead. Tell him.”
“Are you sure? Aren’t you afraid he’ll start bothering you? If Emma finds out you two are talking behind her back, she’ll have a meltdown.”
Clearly, Katrina knew Emma’s temperament all too well.
