Chapter 10
“You’ve all been deceived by the elder Miss!” the housekeeper cried out.
“Sir, Madam, whenever you had insomnia or headaches, it was the second Miss who personally
prepared the aromatherapy for you. Miss Serena merely took the credit.”
“Young Master, during that earthquake, it was Aria who risked her life to carry you out from the rubble, but Serena claimed it was her doing.”
“And that time dancing in the garden–it was actually Aria dancing, but Serena deliberately
pretended it was her in front of Mr. Maxwell, misleading him completely.”
The housekeeper’s words exploded like bombs in the hospital room.
The Pierce family and Maxwell stood frozen, their faces filled with shock and regret.
They could never have imagined the truth would be so cruel.
Serena’s face turned paper–white. She stared at the housekeeper in terror, screaming until her voice cracked: “You old hag, what nonsense are you spouting? I didn’t! I never took credit–those were all
things I did!”
The housekeeper gave a bitter smile. “Miss Serena, you know the truth in your heart. Miss Aria has never received much love since childhood–not from her parents, not from her brother, not even
from her fiancé who didn’t truly love her. But how has she treated everyone? We servants have
watched silently all these years.”
“Once, I asked her why she never told the truth. She said, ‘What difference would it make? No one would believe me anyway. After all, everyone loves Serena, and no one loves me, Aria.“”
“She told me sometimes she wished she had never existed in this world.”
Those words nearly made the Pierce family and Maxwell collapse where they stood.
Serena couldn’t bear to hear any more. She jumped up, pointing at the housekeeper and screaming: “You old witch! How dare you twist the truth! You must have taken money from Aria to tell these lies!”
The housekeeper smiled bitterly and replied calmly: “Miss Serena, your monthly allowance is one

million dollars. And Miss Aria? She only gets six hundred dollars a month. Where would she get money to bribe me? I’ve worked for the Pierce family for so many years, and I simply can’t bear to watch Miss Aria being bullied by you any longer.”
The Pierce family and Maxwell were even more shocked by the housekeeper’s words.
Maxwell asked, trembling: “You only give Aria six hundred dollars a month for living expenses?!”
Mr. and Mrs. Pierce exchanged glances, both responding with shaking voices: “We… we didn’t give her a regular allowance, just a few hundred whenever we happened to think of her.”
But they realized how rarely they had thought of Aria.
After all, most of the time, their world revolved around Serena.
Connor’s face turned deathly pale.
For some reason, he suddenly remembered Aria’s tattered clothes, worn–out shoes, and the many
times he’d caught her working part–time jobs.
What had he done then?
He had scolded her.
He’d berated her for being a Pierce daughter yet doing such lowly part–time work, asking if the family wasn’t providing for her.
Back then, Aria had just lowered her head without a word, though her eyes had reddened.
Looking back now, of course they hadn’t given her money.
And because she always had to be ready to donate blood to Serena, she couldn’t even have normal social interactions or regular employment.
His mind buzzed, multiple emotions flooding his chest until he could barely breathe.
Seeing she couldn’t refute the housekeeper, Serena rushed over.
“Dad, Mom, Connor, I’m your real daughter, your real sister. Uncle Maxwell, I’m the one you truly care for. How can you doubt me because of what a servant says?”
In the past, they wouldn’t have.

But just ten minutes ago…
They had heard her phone call with their own ears.
They’d heard her boasting about how she pretended to be injured to drive Aria away.
For the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Pierce and Connor pushed her away, their eyes filled with disappointment.
Maxwell’s face turned ashen as he made a phone call: “I need you to investigate some things for me!”
In that moment, Serena collapsed to the ground.
She knew.
It was over for her.
