Chapter 25
My marriage with Caius went on with great fanfare. After the little incident made by Damien, no one remembered it anymore. All the guests went back to enjoying the party, laughing, and sharing happiness.
I looked at Caius, who stood by me, smiling gently. I clasped his hand tightly, feeling the warmth he always gave me.
“Are you happy?” he asked in a soft voice.
I looked at him deeply and then, nodded. Not forgetting the big smile I gave him. “Of course. I’m so happy.”
Caius smiled wider. “Good. Because I won’t let anyone ruin it,” he said, touching my nose with his forefinger.
I smiled and rested my head on his shoulder. However, my eyes caught Lucas who was watching us. He immediately made a mocking face towards the two of us, making Caius laugh.
Today wasn’t about the past. Today was the beginning of my new future.
Damien’s POV.
I sat at the computer, my fingers typing fast. I was going to prove to the world, that Althea was mine.
I had saved all the CCTV footage that proved we were together. The man challenged me, it was a good thing that I had surveillance cameras in my house. If not, then I didn’t have a single photo evidence about our relationship. I just needed to spread it to the media, and everyone would know that the man named, Caius, the successful businessman had stolen Althea from me.
I opened the storage folder. However, all I saw was a blank space.
I frowned. No way.
My hands moved again, searching in every other folder, in every backup drive I had. I even tried to restore deleted files.
The result was the same. Everything was gone.
I trailed off, my breath raging. There was no way anyone could get inside my system. I was the only one with access to this footage.
Cold sweat ran down my temples. Who did this?
I tried one more time, opening every file inside my secret drive. Still nothing.
I squeezed my hair, frustration burning through my chest. ! All the data is gone, and even this CCTV is broken. Dammit!” Damien swore in annoyance. Even subconsciously, he threw the laptop in front of him.

A few days ago. After getting the news from my men who were assigned to look after Althea. I, accompanied by Lucas, made a plan to eliminate all of Althea’s memories that Damien had. Not much because indeed both of them had no evidence of being together.
I sat leisurely on the black leather chair in my private study. The dim lighting made the atmosphere even calmer, but my mind was full of plans I needed to get done.
Before me, the computer screen displayed a series of data that was being deleted. The memories of Althea that Damien had, would vanish forever.
I leaned my back against the chair, my fingers tapping the table in a slow rhythm. My gaze filled with satisfaction as I watched the numbers on the screen decrease by one.
“You shouldn’t keep something that was supposed to vanish, Damien,” I murmured with a small smirk. I reached for the wine glass beside me, taking a slow sip, savoring the sense of victory that was approaching.
Lucas, sitting across from me, laughs a little, shaking his head. “You’re sneaky.”
I put the glass back, looking at her calmly. “I’m just making sure no one can harass Althea again,” I replied steadily.
Lucas lifted a corner of his lips, his eyes sparkling with satisfaction. “I like the way you work.”
I gave a faint smile and then, pressed one last key on the keyboard. The screen before me slowly went out, and along with it, all the evidence that had once linked Althea to Damien vanished without a trace.
Game over, Damien. You lost!
Two weeks after our wedding in my home country, Caius and I returned to Switzerland to have a second reception. This time, the celebration was grander than ever.
The entire event hall was filled with important guests, Caius business associates, colleagues from different countries, and of course, our family.
However, the most surprising thing was, that our wedding was broadcast on various
television stations and went viral on social media.
I scrolled through the phone screen, seeing many comments praising how lucky I was to
have a husband like Caius.
I turned towards him, the man who was now my life companion. He was dressed in an elegant black tuxedo, looking as perfect as ever. His eyes were full of calmness as he looked at me.
Caius noticed my gaze and then, smiled gently. “You look amazing tonight.”
I smiled back, looking at him full of happiness. “You too,” I replied blushing with embarrassment.
He held out his hand. “Ready to dance, Mrs. Leclair?” he asked in a teasing tone, the corners of his lips slightly raised.

I chuckled softly, accepting his helping hand. “Sure,” I replied, looking at him with confidence.
As I placed my hand in his grasp, music began to play, and we danced under the glare of the crystal chandelier.
I glanced over at Lucas who was sitting not far from us. He raised his glass towards me with a knowing smile.
I sighed in relief. I was really happy.
The clear blue sky stretched out wide, combined with the clear seawater that stretched as far as the eye could see. I stood on the balcony of our private villa, enjoying the warm sea breeze against my face.
I still feel like it’s a dream.
I’m finally in the place I’ve been dreaming of.
Caius came from behind, wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his chin on my shoulders. “I can see you like this place,” he said, his voice sounding soft in my ear.
I smiled and nodded. “I like it a lot,” I replied with happiness, letting my body lean against him.
He kissed me on the cheek then, whispering in a low voice, “I promise, we’ll come here
often.”
I turned my head, looking at him with an expectant look. “Really?” I asked, unable to hide my excitement.
Caius looked at me deeply, his fingers brushing my cheek gently. “I will make all your dreams come true, Althea,” he uttered with utmost sincerity.
My heart warmed. I turned around and hugged him tightly, burying my face in his chest.
No more tears. No more hurt. Just happiness I’ll never let go of.
I looked up, stared at him then whispered, “I love you, Caius.”
Caius smiled before kissing me gently on the forehead. “And, I’ll love you forever.”
I shut my eyes, savoring this moment. Finally, I was where I was supposed to be appreciated.
While Damien. Lucas said that after the incident at the party, all his coworkers slowly drifted away from him and eventually made him decide to resign from his job out of embarrassment and frustration, spending time getting drunk and making noise at nightclubs. Her life was ruined and I didn’t care at all, let alone be bothered.
