Aiden nodded.
Valerie suddenly pouted and wrapped her arms around him. “I haven’t gone to school in such a long time…”
Aiden paused for a moment.
Valerie felt a slight panic but still gathered the courage to voice her request. “I’m only in my third year. I need to finish my credits to graduate. Could
you…?”
By the end of her sentence, she wasn’t sure if she could go on.
In her previous life, she had made a similar request, only to be slammed against the wall by hirn.
His voice was a low growl, thick with anger. “You’re sneaking off to that jerk, huh? What’s so special about him? I broke his legs, Val. He’s nothing now. You want me to break yours too?”
Thinking back to that moment, Valerie shuddered instinctively, both fearful and frantic.
But the next moment, Aiden’s voice rang in her ears. “Okay.”
Valerie blinked in surprise. “What? I said I want to go back to school, is that okay?”
Aiden answered with a low, calm voice. “Mm. I’ll be away on a business trip for half a month.”
Valerie’s heart skipped a beat. ‘It’s changed again.‘
In her previous life, after Aiden caught her at Everett’s birthday party, he rarely left the house.
Every day, it was just work and then home.
But now, he was going away for half a month.
Valerie chewed on her lip, her mind racing. ‘Did he already have that business trip planned, and my mess just pushed it back last time? Or is he throwing himself into work to give me space to head back to school?‘
Val couldn’t get rid of the crazy idea that she was going nuts, but things were taking a wild turn, nothing like her old life.
Her heart raced, her big, watery eyes soft and innocent, her joy at this change evident.
Aiden looked at her, and his heart melted. The two of them embraced and fell asleep.
In her dream, Valerie found herself standing in an endless sea. The only thing around her was the water.
Not far away on the shore, Juliette stood, screaming at her in fury, “Valerie, you slut! You won’t get away with this. My brother won’t let you off!”
Valentina was beside her, crying uncontrollably, clutching Everett and Alannah as she pointed at Valerie, shouting, “It’s her! She’s the one who took everything from me. Dad, take everything back from her! I don’t want any of it going to her.”
Meanwhile, Arianna and Kelly were laughing, surrounded by a group of fans begging for autographs.
Suddenly, those fans noticed Valerie. They began throwing rotten eggs, vegetables, dead rats, torn–up cats, and even a dead baby at her…
Behind them were relatives–both from the Walker family and the Clark family–pointing at her, accusing her of being a disgrace.

Chapter 71
Friends, classmates, and even professors joined in, all loudly berating her.
The noise grew, a relentless assault on her ears, each voice blending together like a needle piercing through her mind.
Valerie’s head throbbed painfully.
She tried to step back, but her foot was suddenly gripped by someone. Turning around, she was shocked to see Nelson.
His face was full of tenderness, yet he dragged her into the cold sea, the feeling of hopelessness and despair overwhelming her.
Suddenly, she jolted awake. Her eyes snapped open.
The clock on the bedside table read past nine.
Valerie looked at the time and jumped up in alarm. Aiden was already gone.
After quickly freshening up, Valerie headed downstairs. Camille was waiting for her and said, “Mr. Walker is on another business trip.”
Valerie nodded.
After all, Aiden had just taken over the Walker family, becoming the youngest current leader. There was so much to do.
In her previous life, it was likely because of her problems that he had stayed at home,
Valerie didn’t plan to stay idle either. After breakfast, she added more stocks to her portfolio.
From her memory, these stocks had great potential, and in just under a week, she had already made millions. The numbers were still rising.
After handling that, Valerie went to school to cancel her leave.
Aiden had arranged the leave for her, and Valerie had no idea how long it had been. But in her old life, once she married Aiden, Valerie never returned to school.
Valerie’s villa was way too far from campus, and she wasn’t about to deal with a nightmare commute every day. So, she just threw her stuff in a bag and moved into the dorms.
Before she could return to school, she suddenly received a call from Juliette.
When Valerie saw the caller’s name flash on her screen, her eyes narrowed. She didn’t hesitate–she just hit decline and tossed her phone aside.
But Juliette was persistent, calling again and again. Valerie was getting annoyed and almost considered blocking her number. However, she suddenly wondered, ‘Why would Juliette have the nerve to call me at this moment? Maybe it’s really important.’
