Chad jumped out from behind me.
“What are you doing? Sneaking around.”
He looked at the flowers. His face went
white!
“You touched Lily’s roses!”
He glared at me.
I fell to the ground. “Chad… Why didn’t you
say something? You scared me half to
death!”
He looked annoyed, but helped me up.
“What is this black garbage?”
I took the shovel and started stirring.
“I’m mixing the soil with lime powder. I’m
making fertilizer so Lily’s roses grow better.”
Г
He calmed down. “Sorry. I was just worried.
Lily liked watching the flowers from the
gazebo.”
I nodded, and put the dirt back.
I’m glad he came back late.
“Why are you home? Shouldn’t you be at
work?”
“Dad forgot something. And my meeting was
closer to home.”
I heard some kids laughing and Chad
groaned.
“Kids are annoying. They always throw rocks.
They hit Mrs., Zhou’s dog yesterday…”
Throwing rocks?
looked at the camera on top of the gates.
Yes!
I didn’t need the slingshot!
“Mom! The chandelier is broken!”
I ran downstairs and handed her the crystals.
She went white and grabbed my arm. I didn’t
cry out.
“Take me there, now!”
She grabbed her phone to call Dad.
“Mom, it was just the lights. The chandelier is
still fine.”
She looked and sighed.
“I sent a picture to see if they can fix it. Even
though the lights work, I don’t want it to
break…”
She tensed up.
“Tell them to come now.”
A pair of handymen showed up.
Mom told them to be careful.
As the handymen took the chandelier down,
Mom saw me standing nearby.
She frowned.
“Go make some tea. I’ll watch them. I’ll pay
when they’re done.”
“Okay.”
I gave the handymen $100,000.
They were handymen and monks.
One of them messaged me.
“It’s done. The key has been swapped. It
looks the same. No one will know.”
“Your stepmother is generous. She gave us
$660,000, and said she was praying for good
luck.”

The other monk sent me a message.
“Don’t let the doll sleep on the bed.
“It’s got evil energy, and was soaked in blood.
You should be careful…”
My heart skipped a beat.
I grabbed the bones.
