They went to her mouth, which was pulled
into a sickly grin.
Her mouth had two blood red fangs.
The fangs locked onto my neck.
I was paralyzed with fear.
She was going to bite me, and steal my soul!
She looked surprised that I had woken up.
Then she looked hungry.
She pounced!
I gripped the thing under my pillow.
I froze in fear.
I couldn’t move.
Cold panic shot up my spine.
I was sweating buckets as she leaned in.
Closer… and closer…
Then, I made a cut in my hand.
At the last second, the fangs almost touched
my skin!
I lifted my bloody hand and grabbed the doll!
The blood stained its fabric.
CRACK!
The doll made a soundless scream, and
convulsed.
I grinned, blood still dripping from my hand.
“Got you…”
“Dear cousin…”
The doll’s eyes went wide with fear.
Then a steel needle went through the top of
its head.
It stopped moving.
I shoved it onto the floor, and held it down.
with a chair.
The body wasn’t my only problem. As long as
it was in that cursed room, she would wake
- up.
I went to the bottom of my closet and pulled
out some more needles, and the fake bones.
I took a deep breath and got onto the doll’s
bed.
<
The bed was a part of the spell.
1 grabbed a needle and scrubbed the hidden
symbols off.
As the symbols cracked, I felt the cold ease
away.
Then, I put on my gloves, and reached under
the bed, grabbing the tiny bones.
Those were Lily’s.
I swapped them for the fake bones I brought.
I did the same thing to the lamps.
I redrew the symbols, but made them wrong.
I tested the lights to make sure they still
turned on.
Then I shoved it all in a bag, and hid it behind
the curtains.
I was drenched in sweat.
My hand was burning, and my other hand was
in pain from holding the needle for too long.
The energy in that room was insane.
If the needles hadn’t been blessed by the
temple, I couldn’t have done it.
I looked at the chandelier with new eyes.
The most important skull was in there. That
was the center of the spell.
Just one left…
The monk said I had to end the curse, or I
would be screwed.
The reason I could do all of this, was because
I knew Mom would leave me alone after
lighting the cursed aromatherapy.
That stuff was too draining to be around.
If they didn’t stay away, they would have
never made it out the door without wearing
their lucky charms around their necks.
They wanted to get rid of me because I was
an orphan, and because I fit the requirements.
More importantly… I was a Chase!
r
Me and Lily, were related.
