Chapter 5
Before the man could take three steps, car doors slammed behind him.
Three adorable little kids came tumbling out, racing toward the building on their tiny legs.
Matthew stopped dead and grabbed the ringleader.
“Danny! I told you to watch your brother and sister!”
The little boy shot his dad a look that was way too cool for a toddler.
“They wouldn’t listen!”
He squirmed free and took off running even faster.
The middle kid, a girl with bouncy pigtails, giggled as she zoomed past.
“Daddy’s being greedy! He wants Mommy all to himself!”
The youngest one looked totally lost, trying to catch up.
“Hey, wait up!”
Watching his three little chaos agents, Matthew rubbed his temples.
But picturing Julia’s face when she saw him made him grin despite everything.
As Matthew headed for the building, the businessmen went into full panic mode.
“Shit, what do we do? Tannor wasn’t supposed to show up till later!”
“What about those three upstairs? We can’t let them screw this up for us! Especially that psycho bitch!”
Vivian’s face lit up with a twisted idea.
“We can’t let them anywhere near Tannor–God knows what crazy shit they’ll say.”
“Tie ‘em up, gag ‘em, lock ‘em in that room. Once Tannor’s gone, we’ll dump them at the county jail.”

Chapter 5
Sebastian jumped on it immediately: “Perfect! Do it!”
Everyone nodded frantically.
Two massive bodyguards grabbed me, completely ignoring my struggles as they crammed a disgusting rag in my mouth. They zip–tied me, Mr. Lewis, and Lily, tossing us in the corner like garbage.
The door slammed shut with a loud click.
Everyone stampeded downstairs to kiss Matthew’s ass.
This was their shot at impressing the most powerful man in America–no way they were blowing it.
Sebastian led the charge with some fancy–ass bouquet, grinning like a complete tool as he practically genuflected.
“Mr. Tannor, sir! Sebastian Walker, CEO of Walker Enterprises and head of this project. What an incredible honor to serve you…”
Sebastian glanced around, looking puzzled.
“Sir, I brought these flowers especially for your wife. She didn’t come with you today?”
One of Matthew’s people smiled professionally.
“Mrs. Tannor got here yesterday. She’s doing volunteer work.”
“You guys probably already ran into her.”
Sebastian felt his stomach drop, his throat going dry as he asked shakily.
“Um… what’s your wife’s name, sir?”
“My wife’s Julia Grace.”
The second “Grace” hit the air, every single businessman behind Sebastian looked like they were about to puke.
Sebastian just stood there frozen, looking like he’d been hit by a truck, his lips barely moving:
“No fucking way…”

Matthew stopped walking. Those razor–sharp eyes locked onto Sebastian, then swept over everyone else’s guilty faces with bone–chilling intensity.
“You know her.”
His voice was ice–cold–not a question, a fact.
Vivian was practically vibrating with terror, desperately trying to get in Matthew’s way.
“Mr. Tannor, that’s not–we haven’t…”
Before Vivian could finish lying, the littlest boy suddenly froze.
He pointed at her wrist with that innocent kid confusion.
“Hey lady, how come you got the same pretty bracelet as my mommy?”
