His tone was icy, cutting like a blade. He sounded furious.
Jessica thought for a moment.
If she denied it, Leon might keep pestering her. But if she pretended to admit it, she thought he might back off.
She shook her head. Jessica didn’t know Leon well, but she knew he’d explode if she admitted it.
He might even do something truly outrageous.
“I don’t like him. Your Highness, I saved him for my own reasons,” Jessica replied calmly.
Leon was still staring at her, those eyes cold and piercing. “Explain.”
Jessica frowned. “I didn’t… Fine. I only did it for fame and glory.”
Leon retorted, “No one thinks you gained fame and glory. Everyone’s just waiting for you two to reconcile, get married, and become a legendary love
story!”
After all, Jessica risked her life to save Waldo.

Leon thought it must be love that gave Jessica the strength to save Waldo. He was furious about it.

“Then what if I make it very clear? There’s no chance of you ever marrying him?” As he leaned in, Jessica instantly pushed both hands against his chest.
However, Jessica felt he was dirty. He was covered in dust. She could feel the grime even through her hands.
She said, “Your Highness, I’ve already bathed and changed. Could you back off a bit?”
Leon’s fury was momentarily dampened. “You think I’m dirty?”
“Not just dirty. You’re also kind of… smelly.” She genuinely couldn’t stand filthy, stinking men.
Jessica felt frustrated that she had to take a bath again.
“Your Highness, you really are dirty. You’ve soiled my nightdress.” Her look of disgust wasn’t even a little hidden.
Leon took a deep breath, still visibly simmering with anger.

Leon asked, “And how exactly do you plan to show the world you’ve given up on marrying him?”
Jessica answered calmly, “By competing in the Autumn Hunt under the name of the Yates family. Winning the crown. Slapping his face. Crushing his pride. Severing ties completely with Waldo House. Will that do?”
