Chapter 2
Greg walked over to put his arm around me as he spoke. His gesture made me sick to my stomach.
I quickly stepped back and pushed him away. “It’s nothing. I just went out for a walk.”
Emily laughed beside us. “Greg, let’s go to that Michelin restaurant tonight. I had such a hard time getting a reservation. You’ve been spending time with her for a whole month now— surely you can spare some time for me!”
Emily was absolutely shameless. During our honeymoon, the three of us were together during the day, and Greg only came to me at night. Throughout the entire honeymoon, whenever they had a chance, they’d go on dates.
Greg turned to look at Emily with adoration. “Sure, let’s go together.”
Emily linked her arm through Greg’s and said smugly, “Sorry about that! Thanks for letting me have Greg!”
I remained expressionless. Emily asked again, “You’re not mad, are you?”
Greg laughed. “She’s not mad!”
He patted my shoulder. “I’ll bring you back a gift tonight!”
I said nothing and watched them leave.

Where Greg could see her, Emily shot me a cold smirk. I knew perfectly well that Greg wouldn’t be coming home tonight.
Just thinking about what they’d be doing tonight made me rush to the bathroom to throw up.
After a while, I took a deep breath and sent Greg a text: [Come home tonight. I need to talk to you about something.]
He didn’t reply, but I knew he’d seen it. I waited until midnight, but Greg never came home.
I logged onto Instagram and saw photos of Emily with him. They looked like they were in a hotel.
Fighting back nausea, I packed my clothes and cleared out everything in the house that belonged to me.
Fortunately, I didn’t have much here—most things belonged to Emily.
To help Emily move on from the pain of losing her husband, Greg had bought this villa. Emily got the master bedroom while I could only stay in the guest room. When I objected initially, Greg gave me a harsh scolding.
Greg didn’t come home until the next morning.
When he saw me, he showed no guilt and said directly, “I had something to take care of last night. Didn’t you say you needed to talk to me about something? What is it?”
He walked over, carrying the scent of that sickeningly sweet

wash Emily always used. I threw up all over him.

Greg said with displeasure, “What’s wrong with you? You’re not pregnant, are you?”
Suddenly, Greg’s face lit up with excitement. He grabbed my hand and said, “That’s possible! I’ll take you to get checked.”
Greg was beside himself with excitement and dragged me to the hospital. Emily’s expression was complicated as she watched
- me.
When we got to the hospital, I discovered that all his friends had
come too.
“She got pregnant this fast?”
“Is it a boy or a girl?”
“I bet it’s definitely a boy!”
Everyone was laughing and guessing whether I was carrying twins or triplets.
Greg grew even more excited.
While waiting for the test results, I deliberately grabbed his hand and asked, “Greg, do you think the baby is a boy or a girl?”
Greg was quiet for a long moment before saying, “Either would be fine. It’s my child–boy or girl, I’ll love them both.”
