Chapter 20
“Liam! Where’s Eliza?” Grandmother looked behind him, but finding no one.
“She won’t come back, Grandma. She asked me to give this to you.” He held out the diamond bracele
“Eliza didn’t want it?” She paused, then slapped her chest in distress.
“It’s all that damn Maya’s fault! She drove my granddaughter–in–law away!”
Liam remained silent, listening to his grandmother’s curses.
“I couldn’t stand that crazy woman, she made a mess everywhere. I had to send her to Mr. Hayes! If it weren’t for her, Eliza would never have left!”
‘But she did give me an idea.”
His grandmother grabbed his arm, whispering in his ear.
‘Liam, you can drug Eliza’s drink? Once a woman’s pregnant, she’s stuck, you know…”
Liam immediately shook his head. “We can’t do that. Eliza never wanted kids…”
Before he could finish, his grandmother lost her temper.
‘Liam, do we have another choice? Would you rather marry someone else?”
‘This is the only way. Get her pregnant, keep her at home, and I’ll take care of her. Eliza’s
soft–hearted. Treat her right, have a baby, and you really think she’d leave you?”
Liam remained silent. Seeing his hesitation, his grandmother quickly added, “Liam, you still love
her, don’t you? You really gonna let her be out there alone? Instead of letting her be with someone else, why not have her carry your child? We can make things right with her later…”
“Women say they don’t want kids, but once they’re pregnant, they can’t let go. Do you really think
she’d leave the father of her kids?”
“Fine, Grandma…”
His grandmother immediately patted her chest. “Leave it all to me. You just need to see Eliza!”

Despite saying this, Liam couldn’t bring himself to act for several days.
Until his grandmother personally placed a vial and a note in his hand.
“Liam, this is Eliza’s address. It wasn’t easy to find.”
Liam stared at the note in surprise.
Chicago.
“So she really did move to a different city…” His heart ached again.
Was he really so horrible that she’d rather sell her shop and move to a new city than see him again?
Was this Julian truly that much better?
He clutched the vial in his palm. “Grandma, I’ll go find Eliza now.”
His grandmother beamed. “That’s right! Liam, I’m sure she still has feelings for you. How could she throw away twenty years of love so easily?”
She pushed him toward the door. “I’ve arranged a private jet to Chicago. Go find her now!”
Even seated on the plane, it still didn’t feel real to Liam. He stared down at the vial in his hand, still hesitant.
“I’m scared… of pain… of marriage… especially of having children…”
And what had he promised her back then?
“Then we won’t have any. If family pressures us, I’ll say it’s my fault–that I can’t have children.”
Liam closed his eyes, absently placing the vial in his suit pocket. He leaned back in the leather seat, his entire body trembling.
Liam whispered to himself.
“This time, it’s just a final goodbye.”
The plane landed smoothly. After much hesitation, he finally dialed the number on the note.
“Hello? Who is this?”

The woman’s voice from the speaker was still so soft and clear, making his heart tremble.
“Hello, can you hear me?”
Liam’s grip on the phone tightened before he finally spoke.
“Liza, I’m in Chicago. Please, just one last chance to say goodbye, okay?”
