Yvonne never thought she’d survive.
When she opened her eyes, she saw Nancy beside her, eyes red from crying.
“Yvonne, thank goodness you’re fine. I would’ve blamed myself forever. Does it hurt? Don’t worry. I got the best doctor. You won’t have any scars.”
“It’s just a small injury. I’m alright. Don’t feel bad or stressed over it.”
Yvonne’s hands throbbed with searing pain, but she forced a smile and hugged Nancy.
“There’s something I meant to tell you yesterday. It’s probably a little late, but please don’t be mad. I’m flying back to San Francisco this afternoon. My parents arranged a marriage for me, and they’re pushing me to go through with it. I already bought the ticket. Will you come with me to the airport later?”
Nancy hadn’t seen it coming, and her tears, which had only just stopped, came rushing back.
“What? You’re leaving today? And getting married? You’re not coming back, are you? What am I supposed to do without you?”
Yvonne sighed and gently comforted Nancy until she finally stopped crying.
They whispered heartfelt words to each other before Nancy went to handle the discharge pa- perwork.
Yvonne had just finished changing through the pain when Colin walked in with a dark ex- pression.
“You hit Sienna and tried to burn her alive, didn’t you?”
Seeing him again, Yvonne felt nothing. Her voice was flat.
“She said that, and you just took her word for it? Didn’t even bother checking the facts?”

“I don’t need proof! I’ll trust whatever Sienna says, no matter what.”
Colin didn’t even let Yvonne explain and refused to hear her side.
The coldness in his eyes told her clearly that nothing she said would change his mind.
Realizing it was useless, she just smiled. “So, why are you here?”
“I came to make you apologize to Sienna!”
Ignoring her injuries, Colin grabbed her hurt hand and yanked her forward.
The pressure reopened her wound, and she cried out from the pain.
Still, she bit her lip and fought to break free, holding back her tears.
Just then, Nancy came back and stepped in between them, shielding Yvonne.
Colin stared at them coldly, his voice firm and sharp.
“Move aside. Yvonne must apologize to Sienna today!”

“I won’t let that happen!” Nancy shouted; her voice was rough. “I believe Yvonne didn’t do anything wrong! You always take Sienna’s side, but there are security cameras in my room. Everything from yesterday is recorded. If you want her to say sorry, you’d better watch that footage first!”
She stood her ground without backing off.
Colin’s face darkened with anger, veins bulging on his forehead. Just as he was about to snap back, a message from Sienna popped up on his phone.
He looked at it quickly, held back his rage, and turned to leave.
“Fine. I’ll check the surveillance footage tonight. Once there’s solid proof, I’ll see what you have to say!”
He slammed the door on his way out, and the ward fell quiet once more.
As Nancy tended to Yvonne’s injury, she apologized.

Yvonne softly shook her head, wiping away Nancy’s tears.”

“Nancy, there’s no need to apologize. We didn’t do anything wrong. I’ll be leaving soon, so you must take care of yourself from now on.”
Nancy nodded firmly, helping Yvonne gather her things and escorting her to the airport.
The boarding announcement for the flight to San Francisco came over the intercom. Yvonne gave Nancy a final hug before walking through the gate without hesitation.
Once on the plane, she deleted all of Colin’s contact information.
Nancy’s last message appeared.

“Yvonne, I hope you’re happy every day when you get home. Don’t worry. I’ll find out the truth tonight and make sure you get justice.”
Yvonne smiled as the screen went dark. Then, she turned her gaze to the clouds outside the plane window.
To her, the truth and justice didn’t matter anymore.
Colin and all the hurt he caused had faded from her memory.
She was ready to leave it all behind for good.
