Chapter 9
Seth looked around the room. Bella’s bedroom, once warm and familiar, now held nothing but the bare frame of an empty bed.
His pupils shrank. With a sudden, unrestrained kick, he sent a nearby chair flying. His knuckles turned white, veins bulging on his forehead.
“Bella,” he hissed through gritted teeth, “you’ve got some nerve! Running away home now?”

The butler stepped forward cautiously. “Sir, shall I send someone to look for Bella?”
“No need.” Seth’s voice was clipped. “Going after her now is giving her exactly what she wants. I won’t entertain her tantrum. Three days. She’ll be back on her own.”
…
The days that followed were swallowed up by wedding preparations.
From the bridal bouquet to the rings themselves, Seth handled every detail personally.
Tomorrow was the wedding. His and Faye’s.
But Bella hadn’t shown up. Not once. Not even a message.
At last, Seth gave in and dialed her number.
“Bella, have you made enough of a scene?”
Only the automated tone replied, “The number you have dialed is currently unavailable.
Please try again later.”
Seth’s face darkened.
As far as he could remember, this was the first time she had blocked him.
No matter how angry she’d gotten in the past, the most she ever did was give him the cold

shoulder. But now… she’d cut him off completely.
He stared at the screen, seething.

“Fine. Bella. Let’s see how long you can keep this up. I don’t believe you’ll never come
back.”
It was his wedding tomorrow. She wouldn’t be able to resist crashing it.
She had once ruined her own reputation trying to pressure him into marriage–she’d pushed herself to the edge for him. She couldn’t possibly watch him marry someone else and do nothing.
The thought steadied him. The panic inside smoothed itself into quiet certainty.
The wedding ceremony was set by the sea.
Faye had once mentioned that her dream wedding would be held by the ocean. So that’s
what Seth gave her.
The venue was beautiful. Every visible decoration had been hand–picked by him.
He knew she loved photos, so he’d arranged for tens of thousands of fresh flowers to be
flown in and shaped into a towering ten–meter wall.
The desserts were crafted by a Michelin chef flown in from Italy.
The soldiers stationed around the perimeter made it clear just how important this day was
to him.
Guests took their seats under a chorus of admiring murmurs, impressed by Seth’s power
and wealth.
Soon, the wedding march began to play.
Drones filled the sky, tracing out an image of Seth and Faye in an embrace.

Faye stepped forward, clothed in a wedding gown worth over 15 million, approaching him
one step at a time.
Children in the crowd squealed with delight at the bride’s beauty.
But Seth… never looked away from the entrance.
It was his wedding day, yet not a single message from Bella had come.
He had even ordered the soldiers to keep an eye out for her. But the report came back: she hadn’t been seen. Not once.
Was it true, then? Everything she’d said before? Had she really stopped loving him?
Just as he was drifting into thought, the officiant’s voice pulled him back.
“Seth Rogen, do you take Faye Walters to be your lawful wife? To love and cherish her from this day forward, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, until death do you part?”
Seth hesitated.
He picked up the microphone, ready to speak-
But then, the large projection screen lit up without warning.
He turned.
His pupils widened as he stared at the display.
For a long moment, he couldn’t utter a single word.
