Jessica took a moment to compose herself.
After a brief pause, she went outside and gathered four trusted guards to stand watch at the courtyard gate. She instructed them that only Monica and Nolan were allowed inside; no one else was to be permitted.
When Monica and Nolan returned with Garbisch, Jessica sent Nolan to stay behind and personally guard the gate.
Neither Nolan nor the other guards asked any questions, and no one dared look back. The gates to Moonchase Hall were securely locked.
Once everything was in place, Jessica let out a sigh of relief. She returned to her room to grab a blanket, then went back to the pavilion.
Leon was deeply asleep, likely exhausted from the past few days. Occasionally, a soft snore escaped him.
As she approached with the blanket, she frone just before covering him.
While she’d been busy with other matters, Leon had turned onto his side. His hall mask was pressed beneath him, revealing the other side of his face,

Under the moonlight, his features were both striking and gentle–firm, like a mountain, yet soft, almost like a work of art.

His lips, still faintly tinged with alcohol, glistened in the moonlight. They were so tempting, like two soft, blooming rose petals. The delicate pink hue seemed to carry a fragrance that made one want to lean in and admire them.
A breeze swept through, scattering the hair at his temples and softly tousling it across his handsome face, giving him an almost tragic, seductive quality.
Without thinking, Jessica reached out, intending to brush the stray strands from his face..
It wasn’t until her fingers were barely a half–inch from his face that the realized what she was doing.

Flustered, she hurriedly draped the blanket over him and rushed out of the pavilion, not daring to linger for another moment.

With this unsettling thought swirling in her mind, Jessica locked the door and shut all the windows before collapsing into bed. She tossed a unable to fall asleep.
Finally, just before dawn, she drifted off. But in her sleep, she couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was watching her.
