Chapter 25 Had Enough

“My confession to you.” He lowered his gaze. “You’re avoiding me, refusing my goodwill because of it.”
Caroline fought the urge to roll her eyes.
“Professionally, I’ve made myself clear,” she replied firmly. “Personally, your confession means nothing to me. We’re adults
-words don’t sway business. But for now, I want no ties with you, personal or professional.”
Anthony’s smile became strained.
“Good thing we’re alone,” he attempted to joke. “Otherwise, I’d be completely humiliated.”
Caroline didn’t want unnecessary tension. Supreme Sword’s future remained uncertain–if they ever truly needed Anthony’s help, today’s harsh words could come back to haunt them.
After a moment’s consideration, she softened. “Thank you, anyway.”
Anthony brightened. “Then will you mind if I join your celebration?”
Of course, she minded.
Who knew what tactics he’d use to divide and conquer her team

during dinner?

Caroline masked her annoyance with a smile. “I don’t think that’s a good idea. The food here is quite ordinary. I’ll treat you to a proper meal another time.”
“But I want it today,” Anthony insisted.
Caroline silently cursed his persistence.
Suddenly inspired, she clutched her forehead, feigning pain.
A steadying hand caught her waist as Anthony looked on with concern. “What’s wrong?”
Caroline instinctively recoiled from the contact. “Just a headache–probably from standing in the wind too long.”
“I’ll take you to the hospital,” Anthony offered.
“Alright,” Caroline agreed, fighting to suppress a smirk.
Yet, they’d barely taken a few steps when a Bentley cut them off.
Caleb emerged from the back seat, his expression thunderous as he took in the scene–particularly Anthony’s hand on Caroline’s
waist.
“You resign in the afternoon and hook up with him by evening. What’s your game this time, Caroline?” he sneered. “Drugs? Or

just offering yourself?”

Caroline draped her arm around Anthony’s neck, batting her eyes innocently. “That’s none of your business.”
Caleb’s face contorted with rage. He stormed forward, seized Caroline’s arm, and yanked her to his side.
His grip was brutal. Caroline winced in pain as she wrenched herself free.
“We’re still married,” Caleb ground out.
“Not for much longer,” Caroline shot back, rubbing her arm.
Caleb’s face turned livid. Unwilling to give Anthony more ammunition, he thrust a stack of documents at her. “Sign these!”
Caroline skimmed them and smirked. Another attempt to acquire Supreme Sword.
Seeing her playful expression, Caleb frowned, “The offer is generous. Two billion dollars isn’t pocket change. Don’t let our personal issues cloud your judgment.”
Anthony immediately grasped Caleb’s intent and sneered.
Caroline shook her head with feigned regret and tossed the documents back. “Too late.”

Caleb’s expression shifted sharply. “What do you mean?”

Anthony, interpreting her words as acceptance of the Garcia Group’s offer, brightened. “Caroline, you won’t regret choosing us.”
Understanding dawned on Caleb’s face.
“Stupid,” he spat, fixing Caroline with a contemptuous glare. “Garcia Group’s offer is nothing compared to mine. Save yourself the trouble and declare Supreme Sword bankrupt now.”
“Mr. Martin,” Anthony cut in, “resorting to personal attacks when you can’t compete? How rude.”
The more Caleb fumed, the more Anthony preened.
Caroline found their posturing both amusing and exhausting.
Her stomach growled, reminding her that her team was waiting. She turned to leave.
Yet, Caleb grabbed her arm. “Show me the contract.”
“What?”
“The contract you signed with the Garcia Group.”
Caroline laughed, slapping his hand away, “Please, Mr. Martin. You think I’d show you confidential documents from either

company?”
“I’m your husband.”
“So?”

Caleb’s jaw clenched. “As your husband, I have a right to see that contract.”
Caroline regarded him with contempt.
Now he remembered he was her husband? Too late.
Too irritated to argue, she shoved past him. “I was messing with you. I didn’t want to give the project to anyone, but I’ve changed my mind. Whoever impresses me most gets Supreme Sword.”
Caleb scoffed, “Dream on!”
Using the project to manipulate me? She’s overestimating herself.
“Really?” Anthony perked up.
Caroline nodded.
“What do you need me to do?” he asked eagerly.
His flexibility startled her. She pointed at the scowling Caleb. “Drive him away, then leave yourself. Don’t disturb my dinner.”

With that, she walked away.
Anthony approached Caleb. “Come now, Mr. Martin, don’t embarrass yourself. Shall we leave together?”
Caleb looked at him, clearly grossed out. “Someone else is embarrassing himself. As long as she and I are married, Supreme Sword will never be yours.”
Anthony’s smile faded. “Caleb, I’ve had enough of you.”

With that, he swung a punch, knowing he was outmatched but putting everything into it.
The blow caught Caleb’s face, making him see stars.
Caleb touched his mouth, blood seeping between his fingers. “What the hell is wrong with you?”
“This is just the beginning.” Anthony’s smile turned sinister. “You think I only want Supreme Sword? Everything around you
the game, Caroline, all of it–will be mine sooner or later.”
At Caroline’s name, Caleb’s suppressed fury exploded. His roundhouse kick sent Anthony flying.
On the second floor, Seth sat by the window, watching the scene unfold with exclamation.

“What’s going on down there?”
“There’s a fight downstairs.”
His colleague leaned over. “Why so excited?”
Seth squinted. “One of them looks like Anthony.”
William shouldered his way to the window, adjusting his glasses. “It is him—same clothes. Anthony in a street fight?”

Then, his expression turned serious as he recognized Caleb.
“Hey, William, where are you going?”
William hurried toward the stairs. “Start without me. Just getting a drink.”
Caroline emerged from the bathroom in time to see William’s retreating back. “Where’s he off to?”
“Said he was getting a drink.”
“Why? We have plenty here.”
Seth shrugged. “Maybe he’s going to break up the fight?”
Caroline was confused. “What fight?”
Seth nodded toward the window. “Anthony’s fighting someone.

Well, more like getting beaten up–he’s not fighting back…”
Before he could finish, Caroline had vanished.
