Chapter 8
Dominic instantly pulled me behind him as security guards rushed forward to restrain Xavier.
Sprawled on the ground, Xavier continued his hysterical shouting:
“Aria Sullivan! Where have you taken Natalia?!”
I stared at his contorted face in shock. “What are you talking about?”
e was kidnapped this morning–the ransom is three million!” Xavier’s eyes were bloodshot and ld. “And you just happen to return today? There’s no such thing as coincidences like that!”
An icy chill crawled up my spine.
Memories of my previous kidnapping flooded back–that rooftop, that knife, the dripping blood…
I clutched Dominic’s arm desperately. “I know where she might be.”
During the drive, Xavier kept accusing from the backseat: “Still denying it? Then how do you know
where to look?”
I didn’t respond.
When we reached the familiar building, I grabbed Xavier’s arm as he was about to rush to the rooftop. “Wait.”
Just then, voices drifted down from above.
“You said Xavier would do anything for you. Where is he?”
I stood frozen at the rooftop entrance, my blood turning to ice.
The raspy voice, the malicious laughter–it was identical to the man who had kidnapped and tortured me in my previous life!
I gripped Dominic’s hand tightly. He squeezed back reassuringly.
“What’s the rush?” Natalia’s smug voice carried clearly. “He probably thinks Aria did this. Perfect chance to make that bitch pay…”

Chapter 8
Xavier’s body went rigid, his face draining of color.
A terrible realization struck me–could Natalia have orchestrated my kidnapping in my previous life
too?
Memories flashed like lightning through the fog.
When I was kidnapped before, the captor had said, “Blame yourself for crossing the wrong person.”
I’d assumed he meant Xavier, but now it seemed clear he was referring to Natalia.
The kidnapper’s crude laughter continued. “You’re useless! You’re married to him and still can’t get
your hands on the money!”
“Xavier is just the Sullivan family’s lapdog. The old man controls all the money,” Natalia sneered. “If I weren’t trying to get close to the Sullivan fortune…”
“Then why not seduce the old man himself! Become the bitch’s stepmother!” The kidnapper’s raucous laughter echoed across the empty rooftop.
Xavier staggered backward as if stabbed in the chest.
Just then, the kidnapper checked his watch and made a phone call.
Xavier’s phone began to vibrate. He pulled it out with trembling hands. The kidnapper’s number
flashed on the screen, but he hesitated to answer.
Five minutes later, police sirens wailed in the distance.
When the police appeared, Natalia instantly changed her demeanor. “Officers! I’ve been kidnapped!”
“Bullshit!” The kidnapper kicked her in the stomach. “You lying bitch! Wasn’t this your idea to extort money?!”
The police revealed the recording we’d just made, and Natalia’s face turned ashen as she was led
away.
Xavier stood motionless, as if his soul had been ripped from his body.
That night, returning home with Dominic, we found Xavier huddled in the shadows of our porch.
The once–immaculate executive was unrecognizable–haggard and utterly defeated.
