Chapter 1
On my wedding day, my fiancé Alan Ellis, who had been missing for over half a month, walked in holding the hand of our
housekeeper’s daughter, Lola Foster, demanding that I, Evelyn Roberts, call off the engagement.
I couldn’t help but laugh softly: “You were never going to be my groom in the first place. What engagement are you asking me to break?”
He probably didn’t know yet that he had been switched at birth and wasn’t actually part of the Ellis family at all.
My arranged marriage partner had already been changed to the true heir of the Ellis family who had recently returned—Liam
Grant.

On the wedding day, the venue was packed with guests, bustling with excitement.
Suddenly, the church doors burst open, and standing in the doorway was my fiancé Alan, who had been missing for over half a month.
He walked in holding Lola’s hand, and she was actually wearing a wedding dress too.
The entire venue fell silent as everyone’s attention was drawn to
them.
Alan’s eyes held the determination of a warrior facing death as he announced loudly to the assembled guests: “Everyone, Lola and I are truly in love, so I cannot continue with today’s wedding ceremony.”
Then he turned his gaze to me: “Evelyn, I’m sorry, but I don’t want to marry anyone except Lola. Please break our engagement and give her the bride’s position.”
Lola also put on a fragile expression of someone fighting against fate: “Miss Roberts, don’t blame Alan-blame me instead.”
Alan added with firm conviction: “There’s nothing wrong with
this. True love is not a crime…”
I smiled gently, cutting him off: “Are you done with your performance? You were never going to be my groom. What engagement are you asking me to break?”
Alan was stunned: “What do you mean by that?”
At that moment, Liam walked over and stood beside me, saying in an indifferent tone: “What Evelyn means is that this wedding belongs to the two of us. Irrelevant people should leave.”
Alan asked in panic: “Who… who are you?”

I took Liam’s arm and smiled: “He’s my groom, the true heir of the Ellis family. Stop flattering yourself.”
Lola weakly protested: “What do you mean the true heir of the Ellis family? I remember there’s only one heir, and that’s Alan.”
Alan looked uncertainly at his father Marcus Ellis and mother Sarah Ellis: “Dad, Mom…”
Sarah said airily: “Oh my, I forgot to tell you-you’re not my biological son. You were switched at birth.”
Marcus spoke with obvious disgust: “You two need to leave immediately. Stop embarrassing yourselves here and disrupting my son and Evelyn’s wedding.”
Half a month ago, my fiancé was still Alan.
However, the Ellis family suddenly discovered that Alan had been switched at birth. All these Christmases, they had actually been raising someone else’s son.
At the time, Alan was busy fooling around with Lola and had gone missing-no one could reach him.
Marcus and Sarah were already thoroughly disappointed in him, and after confirming Alan wasn’t their biological child, they decided to let him fend for himself.
So my arranged marriage partner quietly changed to their real
son-Liam Grant.
Since Sarah was also a Grant, Liam never changed his surname.
As the heir to Roberts Group, I had an arranged marriage with the Ellis family, so naturally I couldn’t marry Alan anymore.
We all thought Alan would stay missing until after the wedding.
Who knew that on the wedding day, he not only showed up but naively believed he was still the Ellis family heir and that he was supposed to be today’s groom.
He even had the delusional idea of having Lola wear the wedding dress and take my place in the ceremony.
