Chapter 312
John’s smile stiffened, and a flash of displeasure crossed his eyes.
He looked at Anastasia, his fake smile barely holding together.
“Ms. Kingsley, do you have any other questions?” he asked.
He muttered under his breath, “Women are such a hassle, always making problems. If this were a guy, he’d have signed already…”
“Where’s Tom? Where did Tom go?” Anastasia asked.
John snorted internally. “Sorry, Tom had an emergency and had to leave, so she asked me to handle the paperwork for her.”
“I see. Well, if Tom’s not here, then I’ll wait until she’s available,” Anastasia said.
John’s expression darkened. He couldn’t believe Anastasia would have that much free time to wait around all day.
“Tom had a personal emergency. She might not be back until this afternoon, or possibly not until tomorrow,” he said.
“That’s fine. I’ll come back tomorrow to sign and pay,” Anastasia replied.
John gritted his teeth. “You absolutely have to have Tom handle the contract?”
“That’s right. If it’s not Tom, I’m not signing,” Anastasia said firmly.
“Fine, just wait here,” John said through clenched teeth.
John stormed off with the same urgency he’d arrived with.
Elisabeth looked at Anastasia worriedly. “Anastasia, will there be trouble? I hope that poor Tom girl isn’t being bullied.”
“Don’t worry, I’m going to make a phone call,” Anastasia said.
Just as Anastasia finished her call, John returned with Tom and another man behind them.
Tom looked stiff and reluctant as she walked toward them, like she was being dragged against her will.
“Tom, didn’t you have an emergency and leave?” Anastasia asked.
Tom thought to herself that if they hadn’t said that, how else could John have stolen her sale? They probably never expected Anastasia to be so stubborn about only working with her.
Tom smiled stiffly at Anastasia. “Sorry, I had to step out briefly, but I’m back now to help you finish up.”
Anastasia leaned close to Tom and whispered, “Are you okay? Did they threaten you?”
Tom hesitated, and just then John cleared his throat. “Tom, hurry up. The customer is waiting.”
Tom nodded and started processing the paperwork.

Ms. Kingsley, you can sign the contract now.”
Anastasia took the purchase agreement and read through it carefully. “I want to be clear–if I sign this, does the commission go to you?”
Tom looked deeply at Anastasia but didn’t say anything.
Though Tom didn’t speak, her expression said everything.
“Alright, I’m not signing this contract,” Anastasia declared.
“What’s that supposed to mean? Don’t you have the money? Are you just here to cause trouble?” John’s expression changed as he spoke coldly.
He looked like he was about to get physical with Anastasia.
“Is this some kind of scam operation? Are you going to force me to buy?” Anastasia said, glancing toward the entrance.
Why wasn’t he here yet?
“I knew you were just a broke loser pretending to have money,” John sneered. “Get lost! If you can’t afford it, then get out!”
“Is this how you treat customers?” Anastasia said coldly.
Elisabeth grabbed Anastasia’s hand worriedly. “Anastasia, forget it. Don’t fight with unreasonable people. Let’s go buy elsewhere.”
Elisabeth was right–there was no reasoning with bullies like this.
Anastasia turned to leave with Elisabeth.
But when John heard they were going to buy elsewhere, he got even more upset and tried to block their way.
“What exactly do you want? You don’t want us to buy, so we’re leaving. But now you’re blocking us? I’m calling the police,” Anastasia said coldly.
As she pulled out her phone, John tried to grab it.
Tom saw what was happening and looked fearfully at the man behind them. “Manager, this is getting out of hand, isn’t it?”
“Tom, stay out of this,” the manager said.
After hesitating, Tom instinctively moved toward Anastasia.
Just then, a man appeared at the perfect moment.
Wait! Is this how you normally treat customers? You people… stop that right now!”
Anastasia saw who it was and nodded. “Mr. Lewis.”
“Ms. Kingsley, sorry I’m late–I was in a meeting. I came as soon as I got your message.
Anastasia nodded slightly. “I was thinking since you asked me to design for you. I’d give you some business too. I never expected to encounter this kind of situation…”
“Wymen, what the hell is going on here?!” Mr. Lewis said with a cold snort.
He’d been hearing rumors about employees pulling shady moves, but he could never find concrete evidence on the security cameras. When Anastasia texted him today, he’d rushed over.
He hadn’t expected to actually catch them in the act!
Wymen was the manager from earlier.
John panicked now, looking toward Wymen. “Uncle, what do we do?”
“Shut up!” Wymen said through gritted teeth.
The situation was already bad enough, and now John’s outburst made it impossible to deny their relationship.
“Boss, hear me out. We’re from the same hometown–you can’t just believe some outsider’s word over mine!”
“Then explain what happened,” Mr. Lewis said coldly.
“Well…”
“Enough! I believe what I saw with my own eyes. You’re all fired!”
Mr. Lewis turned to Anastasia. “I’m so sorry you had to go through this. To apologize, let me take you and your grandmother
to dinner.”
Anastasia blinked. “Dinner’s not necessary. How about a discount instead?”
Mr. Lewis laughed heartily and readily agreed.
Anastasia pointed to Tom. “Mr. Lewis, you shouldn’t let talent go to waste. Even though Tom is new here, she has excellent customer service and really solid product knowledge. No matter which car we looked at, she could explain everything in detail. Her automotive knowledge seemed effortless.”
Tom blushed, surprised that Anastasia would give her such high praise.
“Ms. Kingsley, you’re too kind. This is just what I should do–professional car salespeople should know vehicle information.
inside and out,” Tom said.
Mr. Lewis tested Tom with some tricky questions, and she answered them all perfectly.
Mr. Lewis nodded with satisfaction. “I never expected that getting rid of the bad apples would also help me find real talent.”
“Thank you, Ms. Kingsley,” Mr. Lewis said.
“No, I should thank you–you saved me a lot of money,” Anastasia replied.
Mr. Lewis was charmed by Anastasia’s straightforward personality.
