Chapter 17
Brady was once an F1 race car driver. Now he owned his own racing team and had various investment businesses. His work was flexible, and he had more money than he could spend.
But usually, he either slept at the racing team’s building, stayed in his studio, or lived in presidential suites of various high–end five–star hotels.
Now suddenly saying “go home,” Jack wasn’t even sure where to go. Surely not his parents‘ house?
Jack thought for a good while, then suddenly remembered that Brady had recently purchased a fully furnished villa in Laurel Garden.
“Alright.”
After saying this, Jack drove to the intersection ahead, made a U–turn, and headed toward Laurel
Garden.
Monday.
Clarissa had been busy all day. By the time she returned to her office after finishing a project meeting, it was already the end of the workday.
As soon as she sat down, her department colleague Stella immediately came over:
“There’s a new Thai restaurant that just opened near the company! Clarissa, let’s go eat there tonight? My treat.”
Clarissa actually didn’t have much of an appetite, but seeing Stella’s expectant face, she nodded in agreement, “Mm, okay.”
Stella was Clarissa’s fellow alumna from Oxford. After graduation, she had stayed with an internet company in Europe, but returned to the country this year and joined Aurexon Group a few months
ago.
She had an outgoing personality, completely different from Clarissa, but she enjoyed interacting

with Clarissa the most at the company.
Stella was a die–hard believer in appearance, preferring to associate with good–looking people.
However, the more she got to know Clarissa, the more she felt Clarissa was a worthy friend.
Although Clarissa initially didn’t pay much attention to her, she couldn’t resist Stella’s persistent
enthusiasm, and over time, the two became close friends.
After work, they went to the Thai restaurant together.
Stella ordered many must–try traditional dishes: mango sticky rice, tom yum goong, green papaya
salad…
The table was filled with colorful, flavorful dishes.
“Guess why I chose to join Aurexon in the first place?” at the table, Stella suddenly changed the subject, asking Clarissa, as if something had spontaneously crossed her mind.
Clarissa didn’t think much about it and said directly: “Isn’t a company like Aurexon the first choice for many capable people in the country?”
Her first choice after university graduation was Aurexon, after all. Aurexon Group had been illustrious since the last century, and now covered various industries including finance, real estate, healthcare, and high technology, with limitless prospects.
But Stella smiled in a rather flirtatious way: “To be honest, the reason I wanted to join Aurexon is because our boss is too handsome. He’s not just Los Angeles’s money tree but also one of its top–tier hunks! I wouldn’t want to work for an ugly boss.”
Clarissa: “.”
This line of thinking was truly extraordinary.
And Stella didn’t hide her admiration for their boss at all: “I joined this company to ‘chase a star.“”
Theodore was an industry benchmark, her idol. His resume, if pulled out, was the kind that would seem too fake even if written in a novel.
“Speaking of which, let me show you my private treasure!” Stella took out her phone, acting like a thief, and showed Clarissa a photo.

To be more precise, it was a… photo of Theodore.
Clarissa glanced at it and couldn’t help but be drawn to the photo, pausing for a few seconds.
This was probably a photo of him taken by someone at some social gathering. Not the kind with
bright lights and debauchery, but at a tea house.
Theodore was wearing a smoke–gray coat that accentuated his straight shoulders. He was sitting
casually at a tea table, brewing tea.
The gentle, warm–toned light was soft and serene, falling on his captivating face.
Even just looking at the photo, one could feel a breath infused with subtle, deep fragrance, giving a clean and profound feeling.
The bearing and relaxed aura of a person in power were masterfully portrayed by him.
Stella, with her thick eyebrows and big eyes, liked to wear dark, mature clothing styles and heavy makeup. This 5’7” mature beauty now had stars in her eyes as she eagerly asked Clarissa: “Handsome, right? Handsome, right?! The boss’s beauty is the employees‘ pride!”
That statement… was not wrong. Clarissa chewed on the soft, springy shrimp meat, thinking in
agreement.
“By the way, having worked here for so long, have you heard any gossip about the boss?” Stella put away her phone, saying with some regret: “Our Mr. Ashford’s private life is too low–key. Such a famous person, and yet you can’t find a trace of him online.”
Clarissa cautiously asked: “What… what do you want to know?”
“Like, is he dating? Is he married? Does he have any ambiguous relationships with women?”
Hearing Stella’s excited gossipy tone, Clarissa’s heart skipped a beat. Looking at Stella’s expectant face, she seemed somewhat hesitant to speak.
