Chapter 11
On the way back, there still wasn’t much conversation between them.
Clarissa took out her phone from her bag and flipped through it.
Her aunt had been bombarding her with calls, urging her to go on a blind date today. Her ignoring of
these calls had made her aunt angry enough to say many harsh words.
Clarissa took out the marriage certificate, took a photo of the gold seal in the bottom right corner,
and sent it to her aunt, considering it her duty done.
Just three seconds after sending the photo, her aunt immediately called.
Clarissa answered, and before she could speak, her aunt launched into a tirade.
“You just found some random image online to fool me, didn’t you? Why don’t you show me the content below? Clarissa, you’re getting too clever for your own good. Do you think I’m that easily
deceived?!”
Clarissa didn’t want to publicly reveal her relationship with Theodore yet; she didn’t want to tarnish his reputation. If her aunt found out that her marriage partner was the CEO of Aurexon Group, with her aunt’s trumpet–like mouth, all of Los Angeles would soon know.
And then, inevitably, some blemishes would come.
“I…”
Clarissa pondered how to explain to them, but her mind was indeed stuck, unable to rationalize even to herself such an absurd relationship.
Just as her aunt was about to explode again, Theodore took her phone. He turned on the speakerphone and calmly said into the phone:
“Hello, I am Clarissa’s husband.”
The moment Theodore’s words fell, her aunt, who had been shouting until her voice was almost
smoking, suddenly went quiet for a moment.

That voice, deep, magnetic, and of exceptional quality….
It sounded very distinguished.
“Who… who are you? Did you really marry Clarissa? You’re not some front or some scammer, are
you?”
Her aunt’s tone was very suspicious: “Just last night Clarissa said the person she liked was her high school and college classmate. She’s supposedly liked him for seven or eight years. How could she
suddenly marry you!”
Clarissa carefully observed Theodore’s expression, but found his face very calm.
Of course, they were only in a contract marriage after all; he wouldn’t bother to care about such
things.
“That’s all in the past. Since last night, she no longer likes that person.”
He seemed even more certain about it than she was.
Clarissa sat up straight, silently gripping the seatbelt.
“And what about you? Even if they just broke up yesterday, what’s the rush to marry her? Are you so eager to pick up the pieces?”
Clarissa shook her head and sighed. She really dreaded her aunt’s mouth.
Theodore didn’t take offense at these words, but calmly said, “We got married today, but I’ve liked
Clarissa for a long time.”
The man seemed to carry a magnetic field; the closer she got, the faster her heart beat.
Clarissa instinctively froze for a moment, but then couldn’t help marveling again. Indeed, as someone seasoned in the business world, his mind worked quickly.
While she racked her brain without finding a good way to deal with her aunt, he casually crafted
such a convincing excuse.
“I knew she had someone she liked before, so I didn’t dare disturb her. Since they broke up

yesterday and she no longer likes him, I seized this opportunity and naturally wanted to make the most of it.”
Even her aunt, who was such a materialistic person, was moved by Theodore’s words.
How pure and devoted must one be to do such a foolish thing?
“So… you just quietly got married like this? My niece, whom I’ve watched grow up, just went with you like that?”
est assured, I won’t neglect any of the proper formalities. I’m already arranging for both families o meet. As for wedding gifts, you can tell me directly how much you want, and I’ll have them sent over today,” Theodore said.
“As for the wedding… it depends on Clarissa’s wishes. If she’s willing, I’ll give her a grand wedding.”
But all her aunt heard was “wedding gifts.”
“Then I need to calculate carefully! My niece lost her parents when she was fifteen, lived with us for many years, and we treated her just like our own daughter…”
“Just give me a number.”
“A house in Los Angeles, a car, plus… one million seven hundred and seventy thousand.”
“Alright,” Theodore immediately replied without a moment’s hesitation.
The woman on the other end of the phone was stunned.
She had carefully considered and stated what she thought was a large demand to test the other party’s bottom line, but didn’t expect him to agree so casually. Had she asked for too little?
