Chapter 9
The day I returned to Ironvale, news broke of the Frosthowl Pack’s bankruptcy.
I stood just outside the pack meeting hall, dazed.
The Frosthowl Pack-the one I had helped build from the ground up with Maximilian-had collapsed along with our
shattered bond.
But none of that mattered anymore.
I had come back for one reason: to merge it with my own, the Moonveil Pack.
After finalizing the merger with the original werewolf elders, I stepped outside-only to run straight into Maximilian.
Once a refined man in tailored suits, always chauffeured in seven-figure cars, he now looked like a shell of himself-filthy,
ragged, and too poor to even afford a twenty-cent shirt.
For a moment, I thought my eyes were deceiving me.
I turned to leave without a word.
But he grabbed my Chanel sleeve, clinging as if it were a lifeline.

“Juliette, I know I messed up. Please, give me another chance. I was blind back then-did awful things. But I swear, I’ll
make it right. Just trust me.”
His once-handsome face was now haggard and unshaven, his eyes bloodshot and desperate.
I looked away, my voice ice-cold.
“Don’t bother. Your apologies can’t undo the pain. You love Scarlett, don’t you? Well, I’ve stepped aside-she’s all yours.”
I turned to walk away.
He panicked and dropped to his knees on the concrete.
“Juliette, please don’t go. Let me explain. I’m scared I won’t get another chance!”
“I don’t love her. Not anymore. These past few months-the ups and downs-I finally saw it: I love you. It’s always been
you.”
“I know I’ve hurt you terribly. But I swear, I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you. Just… give me a chance to fix it.”
I turned back to him, my voice like a blade.
“Love me? You tried to kill me-over and over again. And now you want to call that love?”
“Why should I forgive you? You murdered my pups, Maximilian. Seven of them. You stood by and watched Scarlett dissect them. They were your children too. Even beasts protect their young-how could you?”
“I’ve seen the recordings. Every second burned into my memory. That pain… that hatred is what keeps me standing. I

want you both to pay.”
“Let go of me. Meeting you is the greatest mistake of my life. You make me sick.”
The color drained from his face. Tears of regret streamed down his cheeks.
His lips quivered, eyes begging.
“I’ll atone. I swear. Just… can we start over?”
I said nothing, turning and walking away.
His voice called after me, growing quieter with every step until it finally disappeared.
The next day, I received the signed bond-breaking agreement from him.
Our mate bond-severed for good.
That afternoon, the authorities confirmed he had turned himself in.
He confessed to hiring assassins to kill me-more than once.
He also exposed Scarlett as his accomplice.
She was arrested on the spot.
Scarlett’s husband, upon hearing the news, filed for divorce immediately.
The Frosthowl Pack scandal dragged on for over a month, sending shockwaves through the internet and the werewolf
world.
In the end, both were sentenced to prison.
Their child was sent to a pups’ shelter.
