Chapter 6
The next morning, I met with a lawyer and drafted a bond-breaking agreement.
I sent the crystal recordings from Maximilian’s work phone, along with the video evidence, to the werewolf court-formally charging him and Scarlett with bigamy and murder.
Then, I headed straight for the airport.
On the way, my phone pinged with a message from Maximilian: [Come to the hospital and apologize to Scarlett. Maybe
then I’ll consider forgiving you.]
I scoffed and turned off my phone.
I don’t need your forgiveness. Soon, you’ll both be on your knees.
When I didn’t reply, Maximilian called, only to be met with a “number disconnected” message.
Confused, he was about to send Beta Talon to check the packhouse when Talon burst in, pale and breathless.
“Alpha-it’s bad. Really bad!”
Maximilian frowned. “How many times have I told you to stay calm? What is it now?”
“The Frosthowl Pack’s stocks are crashing. The internet’s blowing up-everyone’s saying you and Scarlett are murderers!”
Maximilian snatched the phone from Talon’s hand. His eyes scanned the screen, darkening by the second.
Netizens were outraged: claims that he had forced his own mate to miscarry seven pups for the sake of his lover, all
backed by damning chat logs and recordings.
It was their private conversations.
Juliette knew everything.
He turned sharply. “Find Juliette-immediately. If she goes public, we might still be able to contain this.”
Talon shook his head. “We’ve tried. The PR team can’t reach her-her phone’s still disconnected.”
Maximilian let out a furious growl. “Then check the packhouse. I don’t care what it takes!”
He grabbed his phone and tried texting her-but the message bounced.
Blocked.
A pit opened in his stomach. He had a sinking feeling this was just the beginning.
Moments later, Talon rushed back, his face drained of color. He handed over a thick envelope.
“These just arrived.”
Maximilian tore it open.

The top document read: Bond-Breaking Agreement.
His hands trembled.
It demanded a fifty-fifty split of the Frosthowl Pack’s entire assets.
From her hospital bed, Scarlett sat bolt upright, her voice screechy with disbelief. “What right does she have to take half
the assets?!”
Maximilian didn’t answer. He turned to the next document-and froze.
It was a Notice of Withdrawal from the werewolf warrior team.
His chest tightened.
He remembered then: when he founded the Frosthowl Pack, it was Juliette’s elite warrior force that formed its backbone.
She had been the soul of their strength.
But his mother resented how Juliette’s competence outshone him. So to become the “perfect” mate, Juliette had stepped away from the battlefield, from all leadership.
After that, the pack’s defenses weakened. Their enemies grew bolder.
Juliette had even offered to return, to help in council, but he’d refused. Too proud. Too afraid she’d outshine him again.
Juliette saw it all clearly-many of his mother’s words had always come from his own insecurities.
To protect his pride, Juliette had quietly created the Moonveil Pack, secretly supporting Frosthowl through hidden
alliances.
Maximilian thought he had control over her warriors. He never did. Yet Juliette knew every crack in the Frosthowl Pack’s
walls.
The bond-breaking terms were a gut punch-but the warrior team’s withdrawal?
That was the kill shot to Maximilian. His face turned ashen.
He realized it too late-Juliette held the pack’s lifeblood in her hands.
“I’ll find her myself,” he muttered, striding toward the door.
Scarlett, panicked, grabbed his arm.
“Maximilian, I’m still hurting from last night-my body’s covered in bruises.”
He brushed her off, distracted.
“Then lie down and rest.”
Just as he reached for the door, Talon stopped him again.
“Wait, Alpha. The hospital’s crawling with reporters and wolves-some worried about the pack, others furious on Juliette’s

behalf. You can’t show your face like this.”
As Alpha King, Maximilian’s pride wouldn’t let him hide.
But when he stepped outside, the damage was already done.
A swarm of reporters and enraged wolves closed in-some demanding answers, others demanding justice.
