Chapter 19
As they watched Milo’s lonely figure fade into the c distance, everyone couldn’t help but feel a wave of sorrow and regret.
“Milo wasn’t a bad kid. He just got caught up in Sloane’s lies.”
“At least he owned up to it. He apologized. Maybe Mr. Vance didn’t have to be that harsh.”
“But come on. Everyone knows how much Mr. Vance loves Aurelia. If it were any other mistake, maybe he’d let it slide. But hurting Aurelia? That’s the one thing he’ll never forgive.”
The rest of the child husbands exchanged quiet glances. Then, one by one, they followed Milo’s lead and bowed to Harrison.
“Mr. Vance, I know I’ve lost the right to call you my family, but in my heart, you’ll always be my father.”
“I know you won’t forgive us, and honestly, we don’t deserve it. But we can’t pretend your kindness meant nothing.”
“Like Milo said- from this day on, every business I build will be a Vance Group subsidiary. For every dollar I earn, 60 percent goes to Vance Group. No questions asked.”
One after another, they bowed three times before slowly rising and turning toward Aurelia.
Then, just as solemnly, they bowed again.
“Aurelia, I never hated you. You’ve always been one of the kindest people I’ve ever known.
“We only mocked you behind your back because Sloane constantly compared herself to you. She’d spiral into insecurity, and we thought tearing you down would give her peace of mind.
“We were wrong. So wrong. We cared more about stroking her ego than protecting your dignity. We never stopped to think how those words would hurt you.
“I know it’s too late now. The damage is done. I don’t expect forgiveness, but if you’re ever in trouble, like Milo said, just call me. I’ll drop everything. I’ll fight your battles. I’ll go through hell for you.
“I’ll keep using the same phone number. I’ll carry it with me to my grave, hoping that maybe, before I die, I’ll get one call from you… Just one… And hear you call me your brother again. That would mean I’ve finally come home.”
One by one, the child husbands gave their final goodbyes to Aurelia,

directly. Instead, he looked at Aurelia sorrowfully.
Owen’s eyes had turned red, brimming with unshed tears. He didn’t apologize to Harrison “Aury, I wasn’t in those videos,” he said, his voice choked with emotion. “I’ve always liked you. That’s never Aurelia froze for a moment when she heard that. Thinking back carefully, she realized he was right.
changed.”
Out of all the footage showing $loane with those men, Owen wasn’t in any of it. He was the only one who had never fallen into her trap.
After a moment of silence, Aurelia frowned and asked, “If you really liked me, then why did you make fun of me with them?”
A wave of bitterness rose in Owen’s chest. He let out a sad, hollow laugh.
“I thought that if I pretended to hate you and got the so stay away from you, then maybe you’d end up being mine alone. But I didn’t expect it to
backfire so badly… or for you to actually hear what I said.”
