Chapter 16
We all were seated around the table, and there wasn’t any talking going on between the adults. The only one who was making sound were little Nathan. He was doing an airplane sound while moving his spoon as if it was flying.
“This is not how I wanted dinner tonight.” Muttered Lily as she ate another spoonful of rice. Promise nodded her head slightly and focused on her plate instead of around. I wanted her to look at me, I really wanted her too but I can’t just force her too. I wanted to get her to forgive me, not resent
me even more.
I looked over to see everyone was eating very slowly, occassionally, they would look at Promise hoping that she would look at them. But nope. she kept her eyes focused on her plate of food. Sometimes it would be focused on Nathan. And a faint smile would play on her lips.
‘She would look like that at our kids‘ My wolf whispered to me. I agreed mentally with him. She would look like that. It ached my heart knowing that we could never have a child together. But I knew that I had to live with that pain.
Soon dinner was done, and Lily told Nathan to go play in the living room. Of course he didn’t want
too, but when Promise told him that the adults had to have a serious talk, he nodded and skipped towards the living room where the T. V suddenly was on.
I looked around and saw that no one wanted to say a thing, opening my mouth to be the first one to
talk, Marie beat me to it.
“Promise… I am so sorry for what I did to you… you never deserved that, but I was just jealous that you were prettier than me, and better than me.” Marie said as tears fell down her face.
“JEALOUS? YOU WERE FUCKING JEALOUS OF PROMISE THATS WHY YOU BEAT HER SENSELESS?” whispered screeched Lily.
Marie dropped her head and nodded her head, i can see the anger coming out of Lily as she glared at Marie as if she was hoping that she would drop dead in front of her.
“And what about you two?” Lily demanded at Tyler and Kyle. They looked at each other and than at me, finally looking at Lily the demon.
“We beat her because… we just wanted to show power and impress ladies…” Kyle whispered.
That must’ve snapped Lily as she suddenly stood up and began to yell at the top of her lungs.
IMPRESS WOMEN? IMPRESS? ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW? WHAT KIND OF WOMEN WILL
BE IMPRESSED AT THE FACT THAT YOU BEAT AN INNOCENT HUMAN GIRL UP JUST FOR FUN? NO ONE. YOU ALL ARE FUCKING IDIOTS.” she was panting by the time she was done.

We all looked over at Promise who had a blank stare on her face. “Please… forgive us Promise. We will make it up to you.” Tyler said as he stared pleadingly at Promise.
And that seemed to break her. Suddenly her eyes filled up with tears and she looked at all of us with pain in her eyes. “Forgive you all? I am not a saint. I can never be a saint, i can never put all of the memories that you guys gave me. The scars behind me. You all broke me down… aren’t you happy that I am broken? That I can’t outshine you…
that I am dead inside?” She asked all of us. We didn’t know how to reply to that, so we kept silence and watched her as the tears fell down her face. “So no… I can never forgive you… all of you. If i have to live with the painful memories, then you can live with the burden that I did not forgive you.” And with that said, she stood up and walked out of the kitchen.
“See what you all did?” We looked over at Lily to see tears in her eyes. “She’s right. You all deserve to live with the burden that you did that to her.” And then she probably ran after Promise.
Is this the punishment that you gave to us Moon Goddess? If so, it’s working fast and painful.
