Beneath His Mercy 20

Chapter 20

The news of the younger generation of the four families being cruelly severed their right hands quickly spread. On the same

day, when Gretchen was getting ready to go to the company as usual, she suddenly lost consciousness as soon as she got on the car. When she woke up again, she found herself in a room that exuded a familiar feeling everywhere.

She thought for a long time before finally remembering the room she stayed in when Howard brought her back to the Wiggins’ villa five years ago.

In this way, it’s obvious who brought her here and made her dizzy.

She got up and walked towards the door, but when she tried to open it, she found that it had already been locked from the outside and couldn’t be opened at all.

“Ms. Belton, are you awake? Just hold on a sec, we’ll go get Mr. for you.”

Before Gretchen could respond, the sound of hurried footsteps quickly faded away outside the door. After looking around and confirming that all possible exits were blocked, Gretchen simply lay down flat, resigned to her fate.

She was curious to see what he was up to.

Gretchen didn’t wait long. She only sat for a short while when the bedroom door was pushed open. Howard, dressed in a suit, walked in. Seeing her sitting there quietly, he couldn’t help but smirk, a hint of a smile on his face.

Familiar faces and familiar rooms, if he hadn’t been mentally prepared in advance, maybe seeing this scene again would still leave him stunned on the spot.

“Grete…”

He unconsciously let out a cry, the person in front of him turned around, with no emotion in his eyes.

Howard, however, acted as if he couldn’t see, just smiling and laying out everything he had done for her.

“Grete, later I restored this room again. Look, isn’t it exactly the same as when we used to live here before?”

Exactly the same.

Even back then, they accidentally broke a corner of the photo frame during an argument, and it was still placed in the same spot, you can imagine how thoughtful he has been all these years.

Missed is missed, even if there are many compensations later, they can never go back to the way they were before.

“What do you want by bringing me here?” She pursed her lips and frowned at him.

The silent air was flowing between the two of them, Howard looked down and smiled bitterly, his voice also carrying a hint of bitterness, “Grete, do we have to be so tense between us?”

Gretchen didn’t answer, but the answer was already obvious.

After a while, he sighed, “I have been trying to prove, Grete, that those few who crushed your hand bones, I caught them all and disabled their hands.”

“The next one, is Veronica.”

He took a step forward, ignoring Gretchen’s resistance, and pulled her hand directly, leading her to the basement.

The basement was dark and damp, unlike the room she woke up in. It hadn’t been taken care of for a long time and even had a musty smell, really unpleasant.

And in the middle of the basement, “Veronica was chained up.”

She looked disheveled, and whenever she heard the door open, she instinctively looked up, hoping that Howard would come to

see her and let her out.

Howard really came, but not to let her go.

With their entry, another person was also thrown in.

A man who had just been released from prison not long ago was tied up and thrown into a basement.

“Grete, how do you want to punish them? I’m with you, don’t be afraid, I’ll be by your side, supporting you.”

Howard spoke passionately, his unfiltered voice reaching the ears of the few people in the basement. The man who was thrown

in later was the first to be unable to bear it.

He cried with snot and tears, and without hesitation, he grabbed Howard’s leg, begging for mercy, “Mr. President, I didn’t do

anything, please spare me…”

But before he could finish his sentence, Howard kicked him in the face with disgust.

Gretchen recognized that person, and all those bad memories suddenly came flooding back. She instinctively took a step back,

her face turning pale, and a chill ran down her spine.

The next second, a wave of warmth spread from the wrist, looking up from holding my hand, I saw Howard’s face with a hint o

annoyance and worry.

“Grete, it’s all my fault, I didn’t think about it. How about I take you out? Leave it to them here, don’t worry, I will make everyone who bullied you pay the price.”
