Chapter 19
Gretchen and Lorenzo met five years ago.
At that time, she had just arrived in Usmington.
Although not completely helpless, but with the language barrier and being alone far away from home, she felt lost for a long time, not knowing what to do.
Lorenzo was the first person from her hometown she ever met.
Later on, as they walked slowly behind, he also complained about her, saying that after so many years in Usmington, it was the first time he had encountered someone who couldn’t communicate, had no plan, and didn’t even have any passion. He went to
a foreign country alone, stayed for two whole months, but couldn’t even manage basic communication.
But she was lucky, she met Lorenzo at his lowest point.
Later, they made a deal. She hired him as her guide with a generous salary, teaching her local language and everything she needed to know in Usmington.
Seeing her wandering aimlessly, and guiding her to uncover her talents and dreams.
Her right hand got injured and she couldn’t draw, so he practiced with her left hand. From the beginning, her writing was all crooked, but gradually she got better. And in the end, she could draw perfect designs with her left hand.
It can be said that Gretchen wouldn’t be the Gretchen she is today without Lorenzo’s initial company.
But she never thought, Lorenzo would fall for her.
When she was first confessed to, she was stunned for a while before she realized.
From that day on, Gretchen started to distance herself from Lorenzo.
He noticed her distance, but didn’t back down. Instead, he tried even harder, and his attack became more intense.
Until she told him about her and Howard, and also mentioned that she might not have any plans for romance for a long time in
the future, Lorenzo changed his approach.
He didn’t push as hard as before, but he wasn’t planning to give up either.
“It’s okay, Grete. I’ll always be by your side until you let go of your worries and open up your heart. By then, whether you accep
or reject, I’ll accept it.”
Gretchen finally ran out of excuses to refuse, so she had to let him stay by her side.
Day after day, year after year.
Up to now, she has subconsciously started to look for him when encountering things, and has completely gotten used to the
fact that she will always be by her side.
With a “ding”, the hot water was ready. Gretchen took the teapot and the tea leaves floated in the boiling water. As the color of the tea changed, the aroma of the tea gradually spread.
Lorenzo’s gaze fell on her, following her movements, watching as she pushed the brewed tea in front of herself, seeing the faint red rise by her ear, couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Have some tea.” She angrily pushed the teacup over, muttering under her breath, “Even drinking tea can’t shut your mouth.”

As the lights came on in the Wiggins’ villa, Howard sat on the sofa with the light shining down on him, casting a shadow under his eyelids. In front of him was Veronica, who used to be friends with the Wiggins family when they were still in the top circle, but later on, as the Wiggins family was suppressed and pushed out of the top circle, everyone abandoned her, some even
wanted to kick her while she was down.
Veronica still remembers the last time they met, following behind another rich girl and mocking her.
Now, they were crawling in front of her, their right hand smashed and bloody, their cries of pain mixed with pleas for mercy reaching her ears, making her feel extremely gratified.
She deliberately put on a soft and hesitant look on her face, and pulled the man next to her, “Howard, wouldn’t this be too crue to them?”
She didn’t see the disgust that flashed in Howard’s eyes when she touched him.
“Cruel, they deserved to be punished for what they did wrong, just disabling one hand is already letting them off easy,” he said coldly.
Upon hearing this, Veronica’s smile became even more apparent on her face. She knew that Howard still loved her, otherwise why would he have captured them all and tortured them so brutally just because they made a few sarcastic remarks about themselves?
