Chapter 10
On my way to the airport, Alexander found me.
“Victoria,” his voice was low, carrying an unmistakable weight of command, “come with me. Before you board that plane, there are truths you must hear.”
“Truths?” I looked at him, my voice laced with exhaustion and sarcasm. “About what? About how a discarded Omega
loses everything in the end?”
“About who you really are, Victoria.”
His tone grew solemn, almost fateful. “You are not random orphaned, nameless stray. You are the daughter of Kaelen Nightshade, former Alpha of the Bondrose Pack. You are the last heir to the Bondrose bloodline.”
It felt like a bolt of lightning struck me. I froze.
Kaelen Nightshade. The name was like a rusted key jamming into the lock of my deepest memories.
Suddenly, the pieces tumbled loose: deafening howls, the stench of blood, a towering figure shoving me into my mother’s arms as flames rose around us-and her hopeless cries, the coldness of her embrace.
“Twenty years ago,” Alexander continued, his voice a mournful echo, “a coalition of rogue wolves and traitors launched a cowardly ambush. Your father, Alpha Kaelen, died fighting to cover the escape of his pack. Your mother, Luna Elara, fled through the Moonlight Marsh with you in her arms, seeking sanctuary with the Lunar Crest Pack. But her injuries were grave-she followed Kaelen into the Moon Goddess’s embrace not long after.”
“You were left behind, abandoned in a foreign pack, your memories buried by trauma and youth.”
I stumbled backward, images crashing over me: the roaring flames, the blood, the flash of my father’s shoulders, and my
mother’s bond rose necklace glinting in the dark.
The bond rose tattoo on my shoulder burned faintly, as if awakening with the truth.
“And you…” I looked at Alexander, my voice cracked. “Who are you?”
“Alexander Shadow. Son of Torin, your father’s most loyal Beta.”
His eyes held a fire that refused to waver. “When Alpha Kaelen fell, his final order to my father was to find and protect his
heir. My father died fulfilling that command. I took his place as Alpha. For twenty years, the Shadows never stopped
searching for you.”
He stepped forward and offered his hand, palm open, in an age-old gesture of solemn oath.
“Ten years ago, that cave. A terrified but defiant Omega girl, surrounded by rogues-I saved you. I didn’t recognize you
then, only that your presence stirred something deep in me. Fate began weaving our threads back together from that
moment. And the night you lost your pup, when I rescued you again-your bond rose manifested in the midst of
weakness.”
“I swear to the Moon Goddess. Victoria, you are the daughter of Alpha, you are the Luna destined for me, Alexander Shadow.”
Far away, the airport lights shimmered like a dream. But in Alexander’s eyes, I saw only truth-and a love forged through decades of searching and promise.

Suddenly, I understood why my wolf always reacted to him. It wasn’t fear. It was the ache to come home.
I looked at his outstretched hand. Slowly, I placed mine in his.
“Take me home, Alexander,” I whispered, voice soft but sure. “Take me back to the Bondrose Pack.”
