The lights in the hospital room were soft.I sat up in bed with an IV still in my hand,but I felt better than I had in a while.
The heart surgery had been a success and the lead surgeon himself had smiled when he came. to check on me and said that my recovery had been so fast that it could even be considered a miracle.
Collins was sitting on the couch in the corner of the room, where he’d basically taken up residence for several days.
Normally, he was someone who cared about his appearance down to the tiniest detail,his hair meticulously groomed and his shirt always ironed straight,but now…
I narrowed my eyes and stared at him for a few seconds,then suddenly couldn’t help but laugh,“Why have you been wearing the same shirt for days?Collins, what happened to your image?”
His head snapped up and the second he heard me teasing him,a suspicious flush spread across
his ears.
Collins looked down at himself. When he realized I was right,he shot to his feet like someone had stepped on his tail.“I…I’ll change immediately!Wait for me!”
Before I could burst out laughing,Collins had already pushed the door and left. Not ten minutes later,he came back and he was like a different person. Even a peacock couldn’t compete with how dazzling he looked.
He was wearing a shirt with metal buttons,his hem was half–tucked in but the collar unbuttoned,revealing a beautifully clear section of collarbone.
That collarbone was sharply defined,like it had been sculpted by a knife. His shoulder line was smooth,his skin clean and pale and all of it made his already striking face look even more roguishly attractive.
I literally forgot how to breathe.Collins walked up to me,his tone light. “Do you still dare to dislike me for wearing the same clothes?”
My heart started racing uncontrollably.
Beep,beep.
The electrocardiogram suddenly emitted sharp beeps,alarm–like and I nearly jumped out of my skin.
Collins’s expression shifted instantly. He rushed to the bedside. “Where is it uncomfortable? Where does it hurt?”
My face burned and even the base of my neck was red.I was stuttering as I tried to speak, but could not.“I,I’m…I’m fine.”
Collins frowned and leaned down,about to check the data from the instruments,his face was so close that I didn’t dare to move at all and my breathing was in disarray.
“Why is your face so red?“He looked at me suspiciously,then suddenly his eyes twitched as if he sensed something and the corners of his mouth slowly hooked up.

That smile hit me straight in the heart.
“I was just wondering why your heart rate spiked like that,” he said,voice low and teasing. “Is looking at me got your heart racing?”
I turned away in a panic.”Maybe I’m still recovering!”
“Oh?“He deliberately stretched his tone,more than a little ambiguous in his tone, “Then maybe it’s time to be hospitalized for a few more days for observation.Or….”
He leaned down close to my ear and asked softly,“Is it because you haven’t repaid the favor of saving your life yet,so you have a burden in your heart?”
I nearly bolted out of bed,my ears were practically on fire.How can this man be so shameless?
“Co…Collins,stop messing around,“I babbled and pushed him, but he didn’t budge an inch.
I told you before,the favor of saving your life has to be returned in kind,“he said in mock
seriousness,“You haven’t honored it.” .
I wanted to reply, “You’re crazy,” but the heartbeat device was beeping at an inopportune time,as if testifying to my weakness.
Collins’eyes lit up as he looked down at me and slowly approached me,“So,promise?”
My eyes widened. Panic and an undeniable rush of excitement swirled in them.
His breath was just a hair’s breadth from my lips and I was too nervous to say a single word.
