Chapter 6
His attitude was so clear and unwavering.
I was completely at a loss.
Who the hell proposes marriage on the first blind date?
Especially when it’s Harlan Cross…
This man I’d always thought was completely out of my league.
And here he was, sitting across from me so earnestly, so gently.
Telling me he wanted to be my husband.
I still couldn’t wrap my head around it.
‘But… why me?”
He looked like he’d been expecting this question all along.
He leaned back casually in his chair and tilted his head.
‘A beauty like you–with your abilities, personality, and looks are all perfect. Do I really need a reason to want to marry you?”
Then he actually raised an eyebrow at me with this little smile.
He sounded so damn serious about everything.
t was making me feel embarrassed.
touched my nose self–consciously.
But aren’t you way out of my league?”
Harlan paused for a rare moment.
He looked straight into my eyes.
‘Do you think I’m good enough for you, Miss Storm?”
froze.
Instinctively swallowed.

I glanced at all the food spread out on the table–every single dish perfectly matched my taste preferences. He’d clearly put real thought into this.
I’d been meaning to bring this up.
I’d only texted him last night, so late.
Yet somehow he’d managed to research my food preferences down to the smallest detail for today’s meal.
At the very least, as a blind date, he was showing incredible sincerity.
And he wasn’t anything like the cold, ruthless bastard everyone said he was.
Add in all his ridiculous qualifications and assets…
Who wouldn’t think he was amazing?
I hesitated for a moment.
“You’re…”
“You’re pretty great, actually.”
Harlan visibly brightened, ducking his head with a soft laugh.
He pushed that folders closer to me.
“So… want to give it a try with me?”
I realized he meant marriage.
instinctively avoid it.
This wasn’t exactly part of my life plan yet.
But the emotion Harlan was showing felt so genuine.
I wanted to be honest with him too.
‘Maybe we could start by getting to know each other better?”
‘I mean, marriage… isn’t that moving a little fast?”
When he heard my answer, something flickered in his eyes–disappointment, maybe.
But he covered it up quickly.
He nodded like the perfect gentleman.
