I moved to step around him, but he matched my movement, staying firmly in my way. “Move”
“I find it curious,” he continued as if I hadn’t spoken, ‘that immediately after securing an alliance with Crystalcrest, your brother arranges a private dinner with its Alpha. Quite intimate for a simple business celebration.
“What are you implying?”
“Strategy, Lysandra.” He began walking beside me as I moved toward the dining room. “Your brother rejected my superior proposal for a reason beyond simple revenge.”
I stopped abruptly, turning to face him. “Stop following me, Tristan.”
“I’m simply curious about your brother’s new ally,” he replied, a dangerous edge beneath his casual tone. After all, he chose Kael over me. I should at least introduce myself.”
“Stop this childish behavior,” I snapped. “You know exactly why he chose Alpha Kael.”
Tristan stepped closer, voice dropping. “Because this entire alliance competition was orchestrated specifically to humiliate me?”
Before I could respond, a third voice interrupted.
“Lysandra? Is everything alright?”
Alpha Kael stood several feet away, his expression shifting from concern to calculated interest as he recognized Tristan.
“Alpha Tristan,” he acknowledged. “What an unexpected pleasure.”
Tristan’s demeanor transformed instantly, the dangerous intensity replaced by practiced diplomatic charm. “Just catching up with an old friend.”
Alpha Kael moved closer to me. “Is everything okay?”
The hallway suddenly felt crowded as Alaric appeared behind Kael, his expression darkening when he spotted Tristan.
“What’s going on here?” my brother demanded.
The atmosphere crackled with tension, the air itself seeming to compress under the pressure of three Alphas in close proximity. Other diners cast nervous glances our way, sensing the predators among them.
“Lysandra,” Alpha Kael said smoothly, positioning himself subtly beside me. “Our dessert has arrived.”
I noticed his protective stance–and so did Tristan. His eyes narrowed dangerously as they moved between us, something dark and possessive flashing across his features.
Alpha Kael caught this reaction, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. “Alpha Tristan, would you care to join us for
dessert?”
“We’re discussing private matters,” Alaric interjected immediately.

Tristan’s smile didn’t reach his eyes. “No need. I’m sure your private matters are quite important
Back in the private room, the mood had shifted entirely. I pushed my dessert around the plate, appetite gone, Alpha Kael watched me with curious intensity while Alaric continued outlining alliance specifics, apparently oblivious to the tension
“I think we should be honest with each other,” Alpha Kael interrupted suddenly.
Both Alaric and I looked at him in surprise.
Alpha Kael set down his fork deliberately. “I’ve been watching you since the meeting, Lysandra. His gaze fixed on me with unexpected directness. “After meeting you, I found myself captivated. You’re mesmerizing. Perhaps other pack leaders merely needed to glimpse your charm to actively seek collaboration.”

I nearly rolled my eyes. “I believe you’re mistaken. I projects by demonstrating professional competence, not
appearance.”
Alpha Kael laughed awkwardly. “To be honest, I was struck by her talent and presence.”
The comment left me uneasy. Even Alaric frowned slightly.
“Alaric,” Kael continued, his voice taking on a formal quality that immediately put me on edge. “We’re already allies. Why not strengthen our connection further?”
My brother’s eyes narrowed suspiciously. “What exactly are you suggesting?”
Alpha Kael’s intense gaze settled on me. “I’d like your sister to become my Luna.”
The silence that followed his declaration lasted exactly two seconds before the private room door flew open with enough force to rattle the wine glasses.
Tristan stood in the doorway, his expression thunderous. “That’s not possible.”
Three shocked faces turned toward him simultaneously.
Tristan’s gaze locked on mine, his voice dropping to a dangerous growl. “She already bears a mark. She can never be your
Luna.”
