Chapter 216
Renata had long since bought her own condo and moved out to live independently. Angelo had visited a few times, so he knew exactly where it was.
Before Angelo could even catch a glimpse of Renata, he was stopped by the security guard at her apartment complex, who sized him up as if he were a beggar.
It’d been ages since anyone dared to look down on him like that. Ever since he got into one of the top universities in the country and landed a job at a prestigious company, no one had ever belittled him again. After falling for Renata, he pushed himself even harder, determined to become someone worthy of her, hoping that one day, he could finally win her heart.
Later, when Renata asked him to toy with Kelly’s feelings, Angelo hesitated at first, but ultimately went through with it.
On one hand, of course, it was to show Renata his commitment.
On the other hand, this was also a chance to prove his charm, to show everyone he wasn’t just some good–for–nothing.
Angelo had to admit, during his relationship with Kelly, he’d found satisfaction in every possible way.
Being with a young, beautiful girl from a wealthy family brought him satisfaction on every level, physically, financially, and, most of all, gave him the ego boost of showing her off on his arm.
Unfortunately, the one he truly loved was Renata.
He thought to himself, ‘Otherwise, staying with Kelly wouldn’t have been so bad either.‘
But never in his wildest dreams had Angelo imagined things between him and Renata would turn out like this.
Angelo glared at the condescending security guard, his head pounding with rage. As he stepped forward to argue, the guard shoved him back dismissively and barked, “No pass, no resident escort, you’re not getting in!”
Angelo’s injuries hadn’t fully healed yet. The shove sent pain rocketing through him, so intense it felt like he might explode, and his face went ghostly pale.
The next instant, the security guard’s expression changed as he looked past Angelo.
Renata approached, arm in arm with a young executive, chatting and laughing animatedly. When she spotted Angelo, the smile on her face froze.
After two weeks of recovery, the scratches Kelly had left on Renata’s face had healed significantly. With careful makeup, no visible marks remained.
Renata’s face twisted in disgust. “What are you doing here?”
Although Angelo had braced himself for this, actually facing Renata’s icy detachment still stung. His chest tightened as anger surged within him. “Renata, who is this guy?” he blurted out.
Renata shot him an annoyed glare. “Who he is is none of your business. Get lost!”
“How the hell can I walk away now?” Angelo snapped. His whole body ached, and after being shoved by the security guard, his face was deathly pale. Hearing Renata’s words, his expression grew even uglier. “None of my business? I became like this because of you, and you still dare to say it’s none of my business?”
Renata looked as if she’d just heard the funniest joke in the world. “Angelo, get your facts straight. Did I put you in this state? You were the one beaten up by the Walkers and landed in the hospital. What does that have to do with me? Stop making a scene and get the hell out!”
Angelo stood thunderstruck. ‘Renata…‘
“So this is the fool you sent to mess with Kelly?” The man beside Renata looked him up and down with a smirk. “Hey buddy, with all this pathetic clinging, do you seriously think my girlfriend would ever look twice at you?”

Renata clung to her boyfriend’s arm, pouting in feigned distress. “See? He’s the one who keeps harassing me. Such a nuisancel®
Angelo was in disbelief.
Angelo thought, ‘Your girlfriend? Then what the hell am !!
‘But just at the bar, she was still kissing me, still willing to sleep with me!
‘Now that something’s gone wrong, why does she suddenly have a boyfriend?
‘Then what about me?‘
Renata sneered coldly, “Who the hell do you think you are? If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be in this mess!
After Kelly scratched up her face and ran home to tattle, Renata got a harsh scolding from her grandma. Now, even when she wanted revenge, she had to think twice.
She couldn’t do anything about Kelly, but she could do anything she wanted to Angelo.
Renata looked at Angelo’s thunderstruck expression, her face full of disdain, and sneered, “Do you really think any woman would want you? What the hell are you anyway?”
Every cutting word of humiliation struck Angelo like a red–hot brand, searing into his most vulnerable spot and sending waves of excruciating pain through his entire being.
She continued, “Only a brainless idiot like Kelly, with her one–track mind, would ever stoop to your level. It’s only because of her that you have any confidence at all. Do you really think every woman will fall for your cheap tricks? Pathetic loser!”
Angelo had never been humiliated like this before. His eyes bloodshot with rage, he raised his hand to strike at her. “Renata, you…”
But before Angelo could even reach her, Renata’s boyfriend viciously kicked him hard, sending him sprawling to the ground.
Angelo already had multiple broken ribs. The brutal kick sent him sprawling to the ground, rolling in agony as cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
What chilled Angelo to the bone was that Renata, fully aware of his injuries, just shot him an icy, dismissive glance and snapped, “Get lost!”
Without a backward glance, she linked arms with her boyfriend and walked inside.
Fed up with his noise, the security guard roughly dragged and kicked him out without a shred of sympathy.
Agony nearly knocked Angelo unconscious. Gritt:
plunging him into darkness.
By the time Angelo came to, night had already fallen.
Joanna sobbed bitterly at his bedside, her voice ra
his teeth, he barely managed to call an ambulance for himself before the pain overwhelmed him,
with despair. “My son, oh my son! If anything happens to you, how will I go on?”
Hearing the sobs, a wave of bitter sorrow surged through Angelo. He let out a cold, mirthless laugh.
Startled, Joanna cried out, “Angelo’s awake! Nurse, my son is awake!”
But what terrified Joanna even more was that, in the very next moment, Angelo suddenly broke down in wracking sobs. His uninjured hand flew up to cover his eyes as he sobbed like a heartbroken child.
He thought, ‘It’s all over…
‘All the glory days I once took for granted, gone. Now, I have nothing. It’s all over…
Joanna had no idea what was happening. Terrified by her son’s sudden breakdown, she clutched her chest in panic and burst into tears alongside him.

Chapter 216
Word of Angelo’s breakdown quickly reached Valerie.
Valerie had bribed a nurse attending to Angelo. When she heard the news, she made some inquiries and quickly learned that Renata had public humiliated Angelo.
Angelo really had it coming, yet when Kelly heard the news, her heart twisted, and she couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.
Seeing Kelly’s reaction, Valerie couldn’t help but tease, “Don’t tell me you’re going soft on him?”
Kelly did feel heartbroken, but she knew there was no turning back. Shaking her head firmly, she told Valerie, “Don’t worry. Even if he comes crawling back to beg me now, I won’t give in!”
But as fate would have it, her words had barely left her lips when they came true.
Sure enough, Angelo came crawling back to beg her. When Kelly saw him wrapped head to toe in bandages, her heart lurched violently.
