I tightened my grip on the railing as he stopped on the step just above me. His lashes were lowered, his eyes. on me from an impossibly close distance. I could smell the bitter scent of medicine clinging to him.
Then he lifted his hand and rested it on the back of my neck.
His skin was so cold it sent a jolt through me. He gave me no time to react. He pressed me forward, lowered his head, and kissed me.
A tremor shot through me. My first instinct was to push him away, but my arms felt like they were weighted with lead. I couldn’t lift them.
For someone so cold, Damian’s lips were searingly hot.
This was the first time, in my memory, that I had ever been kissed.
