Chapter 6
That night, lying in the empty room, I opened the phone Jack had bought me, intending to watch a TV slow. But instead, I saw a message on WhatsApp with a video attached.
I clicked on the video, and what played was a romantic proposal viden.
In the midst of a vast sea of lilies, Rachel Moore smiled gracefully, while Jack knelt on one leg, holding up a ring as if making a promise. Behind them, fireworks exploded in the night sky.
“Lily, I think lilies are perfect for you, Pure and beautiful.”
So even the lilies Jack had been sending me every day were Rachel’s favorite,
Ha. Why does it still hurt to see this glaring scene, even though we’ve decided to break up?
When Jack arrived, I had already projected the video onto the large screen in my room, replaying it over and over again.
Jack froze for a moment. The gentle smile that usually curved his lips disappeared, replaced by a look of surprise and guilt.
“Lily, let me explain!”
“Does it even matter?”
Seeing my indifferent attitude, Jack’s face instantly turned pale,
“Really, that was the proposal setup I arranged for you, but I wasn’t sure if you would like it, so I asked Rachel for her opinion…”
“I was afraid I’d be too nervous during the proposal, so we just ran through the process beforehand,”
“Who says I want to marry you? I wish you’d die! You and your slut of an ex–girlfriend deserve to rot together!”
“Lily, stop making a scene!” Jack pinched his forehead, “You’ll be out of the hospital in a few days. Once you’re better, we can get married.”
“What, do you think you can just use your power to destroy my car and the evidence, and then help me get a marriage certificate?”
“I don’t want my hands cut off one day too,” I said, my smile dripping with sarcasm. Jack almost lost his composure, unable to maintain his gentle mask,
But the next day, he came back to the hospital with his usual smile, and I couldn’t be bothered to pay him any
attention.

Chapter 6
That day, I checked the dance academy’s official website. When I saw that there were no students from Country A on the list, I breathed a sigh of relief.
If Rachel’s cousin had stepped on my broken legs to get into the dance academy, no matter what, I would have caused a massive scene!
But I still tried to contact the professor who had recommended me for the application. I explained the situation and apologized for not being able to enter the academy on time.
The professor replied quickly, saying he would discuss it with the higher–ups.
A faint glimmer of hope arose in my heart. Could I possibly stand on stage again?
I was finally discharged from the hospital.
After all the cold treatment, Jack was beginning to show signs of wear.
“Lily, I know you’re heartbroken about not being able to dance anymore, but things have already happened. We have to learn to move forward. I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you, okay?”
Spend the rest of my life with a scum like you? Is that compensation, or just making me sick? I almost puked right in front of Jack!
“Move forward? Fine. If you really want to compensate me, go turn yourself in, or take Rachel’s place in prison!”
Jack sighed in resignation. “Lily, stop being so unreasonable. Our relationship shouldn’t have ended up like this.”
“Then just die.”
I really wanted to kill this pair of scum, but I knew my life wasn’t worth ending just because I wanted to take them down with me.
At first, I had resolved to kill them both before ending my own life, but the professor’s reply sparked a glimmer of hope in me.
That hope began to grow, and with it, the courage to keep fighting and to keep living.
