I was stunned, and the question burst out, “And you still want to marry me?”
“When you love someone, how could their past matter? You will always be you, and as long as it’s you, I couldn’t ask
for more.”
A person’s eyes don’t lie.
In Alexander’s eyes, I saw myself reflected.
If he was willing to marry me, I would never betray his deep feelings for me.
However, when he mentioned he was Pete’s uncle, I turned to stone.
At the mention of Pete, Alexander’s previously gentle face turned ice–cold.
“He wronged you. He was the blind one.”
“I thought he would make you happy, even convinced your parents not to interfere. Who knew he’d be such a scoundrel! What he owes you, I’ll make him pay back!”
The cold aura emanating from Alexander was even more frightening than mine – a living dead person.
In just one afternoon, my parents and Alexander had arranged all the wedding details.
The wedding was set for the sixth day of the New Year.
Alexander took charge of all wedding preparations.
Despite the rushed timeline, he still arranged a romantic proposal.
He gazed at me tenderly: “Angel, will you marry me?”
I extended my hand without hesitation.
Just as Alexander was putting the diamond ring on my finger, a figure burst in.
“Angela! No wonder you wouldn’t return to the old mansion with me – you were secretly finding new love!”
At that familiar voice, I turned to face Pete, whose eyes were red with fury, and replied coolly: “Who are you?”
“Angela, haven’t you played enough? Come home with me! I admit you’ve won, okay?”
“Didn’t you want a grand wedding? Come back with me, I’ll prepare one! But as a married woman, you can’t go around flirting with others!”

Chapter 7
Based on my vague memory fragments, I told him clearly, “What are you talking about? I’ve never been married.
“Do you dare tell him you’re not married to me?”
Pete pointed at Alexander, but his hand was swatted away, “Angela, you’re becoming increasingly disrespectfale
Only then did Pete turn to look at Alexander, his face full of shock, “Uncle? How is it you…”
“Why couldn’t it be me?”
Pete’s competitive spirit instantly flared, “Even if you’re my uncle, you can’t steal my wife! We’re already married- are you really willing to be the third wheel? Or is this your way of getting revenge on us, stopping at nothing?
Pete grabbed me, trying to pull me into his arms. I raised my hand and slapped him, “Please show some restraint. I truly don’t know you!”
Meeting my cold gaze, Pete’s eyes reddened, his chest heaving, “Angel, I was wrong. Don’t look at me like that. I can’t bear you looking at me like a stranger.”
Alexander pushed Pete away, tenderly lifted my hand, and looked at my reddened palm with icy fury in his eyes, “Apologize to your aunt!”
Pete suddenly burst into laughter, “Uncle, to the victor go the spoils. If you have grievances with me, come at me directly. Don’t use Angel as a tool, okay?”
For some reason, hearing the word “tool” felt jarring.
I instinctively retorted: “You’re the one who treated me as a tool!”
Pete immediately denied it, “Angel, don’t listen to my uncle’s nonsense. He’s just bitter about the family’s inheritance rights falling to me.
His talk of marrying you is just using you to humiliate me. If you really marry him, you’d be committing bigamy.”
I coldly held up my recently obtained single status certificate, “Wouldn’t I know if I were married or not?”
