Jessica pushed the door open, but the moment she looked up, her heart clenched with shock. Without thinking, she slammed the door shut with force
Leon almost got his nose smashed by the door Jessica slammed shut.
The onlookers watched in fearful trepidation, not daring to utter a single word. “Did she really just slam the door in Leon’s face? How reckless! Didn’t she care if she might hurt Leon?”
Leon stood outside the door, staring intently at it. The onlookers hesitated to intervene, all fearing Leon’s wrath.
But behind his mask, Leon’s face showed no trace of anger whatsoever.
Yet he remained as calm and composed.
After staring at the door for a moment, Leon turned and beckoned silently to his attendant.
Before anyone could figure out what Leon needed, Shawn had already magically produced a chair and placed it right by the door.
Leon took a seat with ease in the chair.
Shawn promptly arranged for a table to be brought over and had coffee served.
Leon sat back and sipped his coffee leisurely.
Shawn waved his hand dismissively, and everyone else quickly left. Gail moved to a corner of the courtyard to stand guard.
Before long, Malik arrived in haste. Shawn immediately stepped forward to greet him and said, “Your Highness, would you care to join Leon for some coffee?”
Malik glanced at Leon, then at the tightly shut door behind him. He knew Garbisch and Jessica were inside, but had no idea what they were up to.
Malik couldn’t help but notice that Leon was clearly standing guard for Jessica.
Malik sighed inwardly. ‘At least one thing is certain. While Jessica may seem morally ambiguous, Garbisch is undoubtedly a man of integrity. With them protecting Elsie, she should be safe.‘
Leon must have had his reasons for standing guard, so Malik didn’t say anything more. After Shawn brought over another chair, Malik sat down beside Leon. The two of them quietly sipped their coffee in companionable silence, asking no further questions,
