Jessica and Leon scouted inside without alerting anyone. They roughly mapped I out the cave’s layout after taking a round of walks.
Hiding in the dark, Jessica took Leon’s hand and wrote in his palm, “Markus. Encircle.” However, they could not take down everyone here with just two of them. They had to call in the troops.
This time, Leon did not hesitate. He grasped Jessica’s wrist and pulled her toward the exit. This cave with explosives was too dangerous. Once it exploded, there was no chance of escape, no matter how powerful one was.
Leon was confident but would not risk endangering the woman he loved without absolute confidence. On their way out, with their supreme agility technique and the black robes and masks, Jessica and Leon slipped out without attracting any suspicion.
When they exited the cave, Jessica could feel Leon’s easing tension. She, too, heaved a sigh of relief. ‘It’s a dead end being trapped inside. At the very least, come out first,‘ she thought.
Just as they were about to leave, they suddenly spotted several black–robed figures escorting someone in the distance. Leon’s eyes darkened with alertness. He abruptly pulled Jessica and hid behind a massive boulder.
“Do you know them?” Jessica asked.
“They’re from the imperial court,” Leon replied. It was too far away for him to see clearly. He felt somewhat familiar but was unsure.
“Jessica, I’ve left a signal for Magnus and Shawn, but they might not be able to find their way down. You go up first and have them notify Markus to bring the Royal Guard for encirclement.
‘The thunder grenade is too dangerous, and we must destroy this stronghold,‘ Leon thought.
“Are you going back?” Jessica asked.
“That man… looks like someone from my mother’s clan. I must go and investigate,” Leon said, gazing at her. “Trust me. I’ll come back safely.”
Jessica was moved. ‘If this man truly belongs to Consort Thalia’s clan and falls into the hands of rival princes, it would be troublesome. Consort Thalia and Prince Leon might very well face fabricated charges.
‘And he actually disclosed this sensitive information to me directly. This guy truly trusts me completely. Doesn’t he worry I might turn on him?” Jessica wondered.
Jessica looked up at him. Leon extended a finger and tapped lightly on her forehead. “It’s always you who doesn’t trust me,” he said. “I’ve never once doubted you.”
“But in the past, I…” Jessica said, her voice trailing off.
“I’ll walk into the traps you set without a second thought,” Leon said, suddenly lowering his head, planting a tender kiss on her temple, then vanishing in a flash.
Jessica bit her lower lip. Without hesitation, she followed the hidden vines beside her and effortlessly climbed up the cliff. As expected, just as she reached the mountaintop, she spotted Magnus and Shawn.
Seeing the black–robed, masked figure approaching, Shawn instantly struck out with a palm. Jessica casually parried the strike and called out, “Shawn,
it’s me! Jessica!”
‘It’s Ms. Yates!‘ Shawn was startled and immediately withdrew the strength gathered in his palm.
However, Jessica had already struck. The force of the palm hit Shawn head–on. Shawn, who had already withdrawn his move, could not dodge in time. With a loud smack, he was sent crashing onto the ground.
“Ms. Yates…” Shawn scrambled up from the ground with grievances and asked, “Why did you hit me?”

“You attacked first! It serves you right for being reckless,” Jessica retorted, glancing at him.
He was too quick to attack. I should teach him a lesson, Jessica thought.
Magnus glanced at Shawn and said, “Serves you right!”
‘The only reason His Highness has kept him by his side for over a decade is due to his pure dumb luck. Perhaps His Highness just values his loyalty Magnus thought.
He then rushed forward anxiously and called out, “Ms. Yates, where’s His Highness?”
